A L BUM N OT E S
Life has truly been a rollercoaster ride over the past few years.
I have celebrated many high points in my career including the
success of previous albums ‘Journey’ and ‘Girl With The Golden
Harp’, touring internationally, and of course in my personal life, my
marriage to Chris Marshall . However, there have also been some
very dif ficult and emotionally challenging times as well . In 2013,
I suf fered from ME/CFS, an illness which lef t me wondering if
I’d ever perform again. Now, I’m pleased to say thanks to help
of many specialists and doctors, I have fully recovered and have
never felt better. I’m extremely blessed and know how lucky
I am to have made a full recovery, others with ME are not
so fortunate.
As I look back over my life experience so far, love has
been a vital and central theme all the way through, and
I could never have made it through those highs and lows
if it weren’t for the love of my family . The album,’ This
Love’ is a celebration of love for one another. In my case,
the love of my husband, family, and friends makes my
life what it is, as does my love of music . It ’s this love
that has kept me going in the really hard times of the
illness I went through, and learning to love myself
a little more was at the heart of my recovery from
ME/CFS. It feels emotional and honest to be
creating an album of the world’s most romantic,
love inspired classical melodies.
My husband and I are thrilled to announce the arrival of our
daughter, Cadi Haf Marshall-Jones, she was born on the 23rd of
February, 2017. Three years ago, I never would have imagined all
this would be possible. This album is very personal to me, as Chris
has produced a very special composition called ‘Cariad’, which is
the Welsh word for love, to mark and celebrate our marriage.
He has also been instrumental in the production of this
album as he has also arranged many of the other well known
love themes such as ‘A Thousand Years’, ‘Romeo and Juliet’,
and ‘Cinema Paradiso’.
Love grows and develops in many ways, and I hope this album
will deepen your own understanding and appreciation for
love in your life. I truly believe with all my heart that love is
the most powerful emotion one can experience, and with
it comes kindness, af fection and compassion, all vir tues
which make our World a better place.

International concert harpist Claire Jones was born in Wales. She has a first
class BMus(hons) degree from The Royal College of Music and an MA
from the Royal Academy of Music, London. She is a former Royal Harpist
to HRH The Prince of Wales, and became a household name in 2011
when she performed at the Royal Wedding for the Duke and Duchess of
Cambridge. This led to almost 1000 TV and radio network interviews
worldwide, including ABC, NBC, CBC and Fox news in the USA.
Claire made her concerto debut with the English Chamber
Orchestra in 2007, and a year later she performed a Royal
commission concerto with the Philharmonia Orchestra at the
Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. Since then, Claire has
gone on to perform as a soloist with the Mariinsky Theatre
Ballet Orchestra, BBC Concert Orchestra, Zurich Chamber
Orchestra, City of Hong Kong Chamber Orchestra, European
Union Chamber Orchestra, London Mozart Players and Welsh
National Opera to name only a few.
Solo career highlights include concerto tour appearances
with Sir James Galway; guest appearance with Maestro
Gergiev, Sir Neville Marriner and Owain Arwel Hughes
OBE; recitals at Wigmore Hall and Cadogan Hall
(London), Capitol Hill (USA), City Hall (Hong Kong),
International Harp Festival (Brazil) and the Millennium
Stadium (Wales), concert performances alongside
Bryn Terfel, Alfie Boe, Elin Manahan Thomas and Claire Rutter; a duo
recording with Julian Lloyd Webber; and recordings with The National
Youth Choir of Scotland, Capital Arts Children’s choir, Patrick Hawes,
and James Turnbull.
Claire is no stranger to the classical charts with both The Highgrove
Suite, and her own album on the Classic FM Label, The Girl with the
Golden Harp reaching number three in the classical charts in 2012.
Her last album, Journey was released with Silva Screen Classics. As
with Girl with a Golden Harp, most of the tracks were arranged for
harp and strings by Claire’s husband, percussionist and composer
Chris Marshall. This album reached number 2 in the UK Classical
Charts, and is her most personal to date. It reflects her own
journey to wellness having been diagnosed with ME in 2013.
Claire is now fully recovered from her illness, and the album has
inspired many, resulting in sell out shows during the Journey
UK tour. Claire is a firm favourite on Classic FM playlists, and
her albums have been released worldwide.
Claire was awarded an honorary Associateship from
the Royal Academy of Music London in 2016 for
significant contribution to her profession. Passionate
about promoting her instrument to the masses,
Claire is proud to be an ambassador for international
jewellery company, Clogau.
