• The teachings of the Magisterium (Pope, bishops).
• The essence of Jesus’ teaching is love.

The Morality of Human Acts
• MORALITY is the quality of human act which makes us call some of them good and some of them evil (“Ethics” by Msgr. Glenn).
• QUALITY means character or nature belonging to or distinguishing a thing.
• HUMAN ACT is that which proceeds from deliberate “free will” (freedom) of man.

• HUMAN ACT• any sort of activity
internal (mind) or external (hands) performed by a human being with freedom

Difference between Human Act and Act of Man
• ACT OF MAN• it is man’s act of sensation
(use of senses), and appetition or use of bodily tendencies (such as sweating…) without the use of freedom.

• 1. Billy has a girlfriend at age 15 and he really loves her but whenever they go for a date Billy always makes sure that they are in a group so that he is not tempted to do anything that both of them will not like.

Let’s have a little exercise…
2. Leslie is always reminded by her parents to always go home early and avoid bad company but she keeps on going out late and with friends whom her parents do not approve of.
3. Sophia grew up to be a very independent teenager and that is what her parents want her to be but because of this, she can not be told of what to do even if what she is doing is wrong. She doesn’t care as long as she is contented and happy.
