Sikar is one of historical cities in shekhawati region of rajasthan. It is well known for its
magnificent art,culture & padharo mahare desh tradition. It is situated midway between
Bikaner & Agra on national highway no 11. It is well connected with Jaipur which is 120 km
away, Jodhpur ( 320 away ), Bikaner ( 220 km away ) & Dehli which is 280 km away.
In 1687 Rao Daulat Singh laid down the first foundation of new thikana Sikar at Beer
Bhan Ka Bass & built the fort here. Rao raja Kalyan Singh was the last ruler of Sikar ( 1922—
1967 ) who had been famous for building magnanimous places, temples & ponds. He also built
Kalyan hospital & Kalyan college for public welfare.
Sikar is the land of freedom fighters,patriots,warriors,erudite & businessmen. Soldiers of
this great land are famous across the globe for their valour & astonishing aplomb while fighting
with their foes. These great sons of soil are well known for their refusal to bend knees & bow

There are countless places to visit in Sikar. Some important places of interest are as follows:-
1 KHATU SHYAM JI : khatu shyam ji is name & manifestation of barbaric grandson of Bheema, son of
Ghatotkach,millions of people visit temple from all over india
2 Jeen Mata ji : In this holy village there is an ancient temple dedicated to Jeen Mata ( Goddess of
power). The sacred shrine of Jeen Mata Ji is believed to be 1000 years old. Large number of devotees
garner here for wonder full pageantry held twice in year in months of chaitra & ashwin during navratra.
3 HARSH HILLS: harsh is the range of Arawali, the oldest range of mountains.It is 554 meter high. The
serenity of dawn & dusk of Harsh attracts thousands of tourists every year. Harshnath temple is
enshrined on the top of Harsh hill. It’s an ancient site for ruins of old shiva temple.
4 SHOBHAGYAWATI : Shobhagyawati is a religious destination located on shakanbari-goriya road & also
know as shobhawati on the name of river shobhawati. The river is famous for flowing underground until
sunset, after sunset water comes up & river becomes visible, with very first ray of sun the water level of
river starts decreasing.
5 SHAKAMBARI : It’s about 59 km away from Sikar. Shakambari is incarnation of Durga, consort to
Mahakala. She is the divine mother called the ‘’ the bearer of of greens ‘’. It is believed that in times of
famine, the Godess Aadishakti comes down as Shakambari gives vegan food to the hungry.
6 GOPINATH MANDIR : Gopinath temple is one of the oldest temple in Sikar.Lord Krishna is known as
Gopinath raja. It’s very very beautiful & garbgrih is made up of colorful glasses.
7 GANESH MANDIR: It’s oldest temple of god Ganesh located in old city
8 MATA MANSA DEVI TEMPLE : It’s dedicated Mansa Devi, goddess of shakti. The temple is spread in
hundred Acres of Hasanpur hills between Neem ka Thana & Sikar.
