• Need to provide further clarification and a clear direction regarding delivery of ADHC funded Early Childhood and Family Services.

• LL is recognised as an expert that provides excellent service. We continue to recognise and value our work in disability. Our expertise and professionalism will continue irrespective of the changes in our strategic focus.

• Existing ADHC funding will cease by June 2015. LL is working with ADHC to understand more but until they announce the process, no LL staff should provide confidential information regarding the service delivery or contract details to any third party service provider or NFP organisation.

• At the appropriate time we will provide an insight to those organisations involved

• There will be no client referrals to organisations which deliver the same services as LL and is able to deliver within the timeframe

• All existing services will continue to be delivered

• The intent of ADHC and LL is to provide continuity of quality service provision to clients by existing staff wherever possible.

• To cease providing services puts vulnerable clients at unnecessary risk. It puts the tender process at risk; reduces likelihood of staff being offered continued employment

• New direction will utilise the skills of our existing, and/or new professionals.

• Intend to retain the skills of as many experienced staff as possible

• It is vitally important that all staff adhere to this and where appropriate communicate these important messages to all relevant parties

Work, Health and Safety Incident Reporting - Reminder

If you are injured at work:

• Advise your Manager or Supervisor immediately and determine the need for appropriate first aid or medical assistance.

• Record details of the Incident by completing an Incident / Injury Report form asap – if you are unable to do this then a Manager / Supervisor must do it on your behalf and send it HR within 24 hours of the incident.

• If the injuries are significant immediately notify the HR Manager and/or CEO.

• To claim workers compensation your treating doctor must complete a WorkCover Medical Certificate. The doctor will decide what treatment is required and what work restrictions apply to you.

• Getting back to work after an injury is an important step in an employee’s recovery. If you are unable to perform full duties or have restrictions, you must comply with your treating doctors directions in order to assist a return to work on full pre-injury duties. A Return to Work Plan may be developed for if your restrictions require suitable duties.

• You are also required to provide all relevant documentation to your Manager including: WorkCover Medical Certificates, copies of referrals or medical reports, tax invoices or receipts for expenses incurred, etc. These confidential documents are forwarded to HR/Return to Work Coordinator and provided to the Workers Compensation insurer.

• NSW Gov introduced new legislation regarding Child Protection (Working with Children) effective from 15 June 2013.

• This meant anyone who started a new paid job which involved working with children on or after 15/06/2013 had to obtain a “new-style” Working With Children Check before they could start work.

• Existing LL employees were not required to do anything immediately.

• BUT NOW – LL require ALL paid employees and volunteers who work with children to have one of the “new-style” Working With Children Check (WWCC) by no later than 31/12/2014 – only 2 short months away.

• You must allow 4 weeks for processing to receive the results of your check.  Once you have your results, forward them to HR to update your registration details. You must advise your manager.

• WWCC costs $80-(free for volunteers), lasts for 5 years and is fully transportable from one situation to another (e.g. being an employee at LL and being the coach of a children’s sporting team where you are not closely related to any child on that team).

Marketing & Business Development

• The Corporate Volunteering Day at Peakhurst was a great success. Thank you to everybody, especially our Preschool staff, who helped make it such a worthwhile experience for the 12 volunteers from LexisNexis. With a well organised and thought through program based around team activities in and around the preschool and in the local neighbourhood, the volunteers not only made a great contribution, they also came away engaged and with a good understanding of the need for our services. A good basis to further build the relationship.

• The volunteers helped with maintenance, craft and group activities and distributed our promotional and Fundraising Raffle materials in surrounding areas. Sam Hornery spoke with passion about learning difficulties and disabilities and the work we do. The feedback from LexisNexis was that they loved the experience and thought it was a very well organised day (despite the very hot conditions on the day).

• We will use this experience for similar opportunities next year.
