The Board of Trustees of the University of Central Arkansas convened Inregular meeting on Wednesday morning, April 9, 1980, at ten o'clock in the BoardRoom on the campus, with the following officers and members of the Board present,to-wit:

Mr. James W. AhlfMr. Bill JohnsonDr. John W. Sneed, Jr.Mrs. Charles E. Hammans
and with the following absent, to-wit:
Chairman: Dr. J. Albert Johnson
constituting a quorum of said Board, at which meeting the following business wastransacted, to-wit:
Chairman Elect Dixon presided in the absence of Chairman Johnson.
Minutes of the last meeting were approved as distributed.
Copies of the university financial report as of February 29, 1980, were dis-tributed and subsequently reviewed by Mr. Robert Me Cor mack, Comptroller.
Copies of the February 29, 1980, financial report of the bookstore were dis-tributed. Pertinent information relative to this report was reviewed by Mr. B. W.Horton, Vice President for Financial Affairs.
Adoption of the following resolution was moved by Mrs. Hammans, secondedby Dr. Sneed, and unanimously approved by the Board:
"RESOLVED, that the university administration be authorizedto pay ARA Food Services the rates outlined below for the1980-81 regular term 21 and 15 meal plans and the 1980 sum-mer terms 21 and 15 meal plans. In addition, ARA FoodServices Company be authorized to collect the casual mealrates outlined below":

A status report of renovation and construction projects that had been pre-viously approved by the Board was made by Mr. McCormack, Comptroller.

"RESOLVED, that the university administration be author-ized to collect room and board rates outlined below for theregular 9-months terms and the summer terms beginningwith the summer of 1980":

"RESOLVED, that the university administration be author-ized to employ a contractor to hard-surface the parkinglot west of Hughes Hall at a cost of $20,500 and the parkinglot south of Carmichael Hall at a cost of $10,000".
Adoption of the following resolution was moved by Mr. Johnson, secondedby Mrs. Hammans, and unanimously approved by the Board:
"RESOLVED, that the university be authorized to purchasefor classified employees a minimum of $10, 000 life insur-ance, and in the event an employee is paid an annual sal-ary in excess of $10,000, the university would provide lifeinsurance in the amount of his annual salary. In addition,the employee would have the option to purchase, throughpayroll deduction, additional insurance equal to the amountpurchased by the university".
Mr. John Hurley, Vice President for Student Affairs, distributed infor-mation outlining activities in his area and giving the administrative structure of hispersonnel. Mr. Hurley then discussed the role of student affairs in the operation ofthe university.
Adoption of the following resolution was moved by Mr. Ahlf, secondedby Mrs. Hammans, and unanimously approved by the Board:
"RESOLVED, that the current fee of $20.00 per monthcharged per student enrolled in the Department of HomeEconomics Nursery School be increased to $30. 00 permonth effective the beginning of the 1980-81 academicyear".
Adoption of the following resolution was moved by Mrs. Hammans, secondedby Dr. Sneed, and unanimously approved by the Board:
"RESOLVED, that student teachers and other educationpracticum students who request and receive assignmentsmore than 60 miles from Conway be charged a supervi-sion fee as follows:
60 to 80 miles $15. 0081 to 100 miles 30. 00Over 100 miles 45.00

Adoption of the following resolution was moved by Mr. Johnson, secondedby Mrs. Hammans, and unanimously approved by the Board:
"RESOLVED, that students enrolled in the physical therapyprogram be assessed a $100. 00 fee per semester in addi-tion to the usual student tuition and fees. This fee wouldbe payable at the time tuition and fees are due".
Executive session was declared upon motion made by Mr. Johnson, secondedby Dr. Sneed, and unanimously passed by the Board.

Mr. Johnson made a motion that the present contract for Dr. Jefferson D.Farris be extended for one year ending June 30, 1982, and that his 1980-81 fiscalyear salary be $46,117. A second to this motion was made by Mr. Jones andpassed by unanimous vote.
In open session, appointments, resignations, retirements, and leaves ofabsence, as recommended by President Farris in executive session, were ap-proved upon motion made by Mr. Ahlf, seconded by Mrs. Hammans, and unani-mously passed by the Board.
