Bob cuts his cake
Several club members gathered for the Hopkinton parade and club pot luck to celebrate the 4th of July. No meeting was held since we had just met at Sunapee. I will try here to fill you
in on the happenings of the day.
From the Editor ’s Cubicle
Rain held down the number of cars in the parade but it did not dampen the enthusiasm of the onlookers. Our potluck gathering at Allan & Judy’s drew a few less people than we would have had if the sun was shining. Still, everyone who showed up seemed to enjoy the day. Several rounds of horseshoes were played in the rain and there was even a soaking game of basketball. The Browns and Moores were camping in Campton, NH for the weekend but managed to join us. Of course we took the opportunity on more than one lull in the activities to sing and re-sing Happy Birthday to Bob “born on the 4th of July” Brown. In member news, it was nice to see Allan home and doing well. Unfortunately, Ray Kimball was still in the hospital. We wish him well. In other news, I wanted to get photos of a benefit cruise night at the Tilt’n Diner that had been scheduled and rained out every Wednesday so far. I got lucky on the 3rd or 4th Wednesday. Those photos appear on page 4. I hope you enjoy them.

Here and There
A fund raiser cruise night at the Tilt’n Diner. Corvairs parked in chronological
order 1964, 1965 & 1966.
“Junk in the trunk?” Not this trunk. It has to be neat for this
stuffed doggie & his convertible
So much bluer than the threatening sky above. This particular cruise night was
scheduled and canceled three Wednesdays in a row due to stormy weather.
Our Corvair cousin. Did GM make the wrong call to discontinue the Corvair
instead of the Corvette? Imagine a two or four seat, water cooled, rear engine,
fiberglass Corvair!

The club has been invited to display our Corvairs at the Taylor Community in Laconia on Thursday August 21st, starting at 6:00 PM. Plan to arrive by 5:45. In the event of inclement weather, the show will be canceled. We are hopeful that we will have a large turnout with as many styles of Corvair as possible on display.
Please RSVP to Jon at 934-6476 or in person by the August 17th meeting. We need a head count. If we have too few attendees we may have to cancel. I have been told that food may be provided but the details are unclear and still being worked out. Call Jon for updates.
The map at the left should help you get to the right place. Coming from any direction, Take the road opposite Harris Family Furniture. When you come to the 4 way stop sign continue straight ahead. There will be someone waiting to direct you to the display area.
In the neighborhood
Ginny and Jon went out to supper the other night. It was such a nice late afternoon that they took a ride afterward through the back roads between Northfield and Canterbury. In a garage at a red house on Sergeant Street, they spotted the tail lights of a dark blue or black early model Corvair. Anyone have any information on this?

Paul & Evelyn host our next meeting and gathering on Sunday the 17th from
noon to whenever. Come prepared to enjoy the lake.
“Who am I now?” The answer for July, at the right, is Judy Jones. Can you guess who August is? Have you sent in your photo yet? Send it to [email protected]. I can work with quality electronic files, original prints, or good Xerox photocopies. If you can’t scan your photo, I can. Send it directly to me. I’ll scan it and get it back to you as soon as possible. Please help out by participating.

Market Place
We need more hubcaps to turn into clocks. Prefer 1961 or any that have 12 sections (12 hours) but will take any and all. Contact Ray Moore at 603-267-6191.
Bob Brown is no longer able to offer Castrol Edge Syntec 5W50 oil at the discounted price of $8.25. His message to those of you who purchased this special synthetic oil, engineered exclusively for Classic/Antique cars, is that he found the same oil at the Laconia NAPA store where they stock about 30 quarts. It is currently on sale for $5 and change. Their regular price is $8.79/quart. If you want to give the internal components of your engine the premier protection offered by this oil, check with your local NAPA store.
