Two months of summer off was awesome! Hot days at the beach or at the pool, not having to wake up early, going to
bed late and no homework! It was perfect; but study Spanish? HA! Do you remember how hard it was to learn all
these concepts last year? Vocabulary? Conjugations? Well, now that you’ve advanced a level we’ll be dominating
other verbs, different vocabulary and different conjugations, but we can’t forget what we learned last year! As you
see, learning another language- just like any other subject, builds on what was learned before… just like a pyramid!

Nivel IV- El presente regular (Conjugación)
CONJUGATION refers to changing the ending of the verb so that the verb agrees with the
subject. We do the same in English without even thinking about it. For example, we say I
prepare but he prepares.
To conjugate the verb (to make the subject and the verb agree), we drop the ending (the last
2 letters of the infinitive (the unconjugated verb). These endings could be –AR,--ER, or –IR.
Once you drop the ending, add the new ending to make it match its subject. The new
endings are:
--AR --ER --IR
Manos a la obra; ¡a practicar! First, write the English definition of the verb. Then, conjugate
the verb in the present tense indicative:

biblioteca. Inés y Javier van a caminar en el centro. Después, vamos a las montañas. Según el padre de
