K145 Closed Grip Heavy Duty High-Tension Hacksaw Frame The K145 is a professional quality high-tension frame that provides an easy to use and efficient adjustment lever. Its com-fortable rubber handle and thumb hold provide a sure, ergonomic grip. Four permanently angled mounting pins allow for both straight and angle cutting. The mounting pins keep the blade secure even when tension is released. With just six turns, blade tension is approximately 28,000 psi (2,000 kg/cm2) which keeps the blade from twisting and binding in even the most aggressive applications. Each K145 Heavy Duty High-Tension frame is shipped with a Starrett bi-metal unique® High Speed Steel Safe-Flex® Hacksaw Blade.

K153 Closed Grip Heavy Duty High-Tension Hacksaw Frame The K153 is a rugged, professional quality high-tension frame constructed of cast aluminum with an extra-thick tubular steel bar for added strength. The steel tube also provides on-hand storage for spare blades. The K153 High-Tension Frame is engineered for use with Starrett bi-metal unique® High Speed Steel Safe-Flex® Hacksaw Blade.

With just three 360° turns, the easy to use adjusting screw will tension the blade up to 28,000 psi (2,000 kg/cm2) which prevents the blade from twisting and binding when bearing down on the cut. 148 Professional Contractors’ PVC Saws This application-specific saw is a popular item in the tool boxes of the professional contractor and weekend handyman. It allows for easy and fast cutting of PVC and ABS plastic pipe and is effective in a wide variety of general purpose applications. A cast aluminum handle ensures long life and true cuts. The 148 PVC Saw is available with 12" and 18" length blades. Replacement blades can be ordered separately.

K147 Starrett Bi-Metal Compass Saw The K147 Compass Saw is a versatile tool that provides a variety of cutting solutions. The heavy duty, variable pitch bi-metal blade delivers sharp cutting action and long life on a broad variety of materials. The Compass Saw blade rotates a full 360° enabling it to cut at any angle. The rugged ergonomic handle provides both comfort and leverage for maximum efficiency. HOLE SAW SAFETY GUIDELINES AND APPLICATION TIPS

For best performance and longest life, follow these guidelines every time you use Starrett hole saws.

• ALWAYS WEAR SAFETY GLASSES.

• Keep hands, hair and loose clothing away from all rotating tools.

• Use oil or other coolants on most metal work pieces, except cast iron.

• Hold the saw firmly and drill perpendicular to the work surface.

• Apply sufficient pressure to enable the saw to cut freely. Clear chips away from area frequently.

Hole Saw Terminology and Application Tips.

Pipe Size is designated by the Inside Diameter (ID). For example, a 7/8" diameter hole saw is used to prepare a hole through which a 1/2" pipe may be inserted.

Tubing Size is designated by the Outside Diameter (OD). For example, when preparing an entrance hole for a given tubing diameter, select a hole saw with the same diameter.

HOLE SAW ARBORS AND ACCESSORIES

HOLE SAW ARBORS and EXTENSIONSFour standard arbor designs are available. Each includes a choice of a conventional high speed steel or a high performance carbide tipped 1/4" pilot drill. The pilot drill is secured with a set screw for easy replacement of the pilot drill. Quick-Hitch™ arbors enable instant change-outs of hole saws without additional tools and without removing the arbor from the chuck.

The A4 model has flats to fit a 5/8" (16mm) wrench. Specify an arbor that suits the hole saw diameter by the catalog number. Choose carbide tipped pilot drills (specified by the prefix ‘X’ in the catalog number) for use with carbide grit or diamond grit saws. 12" (300mm) Arbor Extensions are availble that will fit either a 1/2" (13mm) A5 Chuck or a 3/8" (9.5mm) A15 Chuck.

HOLE SAW ARBORS for QUICK CHANGE CONNECTORS A4 type arbors are compatible for use with AQC-14 Quick Change Connectors. A1 and A10E arbors are compatible with AQC38 Quick Change Connectors.

SPECIAL PURPOSE HOLE SAW ARBORS Locking Arbors These tools lock a hole saw firmly to the arbor on 1-1/2" diameter and larger saws. The arbor eliminates vibration and is particularly useful when cutting difficult materials or in high production applications. The arbor includes a 1/4" high speed steel pilot drill. Using a Starrett Locking Arbor can significantly extend tool life.

SPECIAL PURPOSE HOLE SAW ARBORS A19 “Oops” Arbor Mistakes do happen. That’s why pencils have erasers, keyboards have “backspace” and golfers take a Mulligan. For the pro-fessional tradesman or weekend handyman, there is the Starrett Oops Arbor.

This tool is actually a pilot drill adaptor/arbor that fits in place of the drill in Nos. A1, A2 or A10 regular hole saw arbors.

It is a great tool for when a hole is drilled smaller than required. For example, if you drilled a 1" hole in an application that calls for a 2" hole you would put a 2" saw on an A2 or A10 arbor, and then remove the pilot drill from the arbor. Using the Oops Arbor, place the 1" saw on it and insert the 1/4" shank of that arbor in the drill hole of the A2 or A10 arbor. The 1" saw will then pilot the entire assembly while the 2" saw cuts the hole you intended to drill in the first place. The Oops Arbor is also helpful in any application where existing holes need to be increased. The minimum hole enlargement is 3/16" (4.7mm).

EO1 & EO2 Easy Out Core Ejection Arbors This special arbor solves the common problem of removing the slug from inside the hole saw after a cut. The left picture shows the saw and arbor after a hole has been cut (with the slug still in the hole saw). To clear the slug from inside the saw, press the button on the arbor body and slide the body back up the shank. The core is then exposed and easy to remove, as shown in the right picture. This is particularly useful when cutting thin metal with bi-metal hole saws.

HOLE SAW ARBOR ACCESSORIES A12 Arbor Adaptor The adaptor fits Starrett Arbors No. A1 and No. A4 and allows the use of saws up to 6" in diameter with a 5/8-18 screw thread.

Pilot Drills Five replacement pilot drills are available for the complete range of Starrett arbors. Drills are 1/4" in diameter. Four are high speed steel and one is carbide.

Morse Taper Adaptors Four adaptors are available. The adaptors enable Starrett arbors to fit machine spindles using Morse tapers.

Quick Change Connectors The Quick Change Connectors are an excellent complement to Starrett Hole Saws, allowing a ‘quick change’ of arbors without adjustment of the drill chuck. The AQC14-38 is compatible with all Cordless Smooth Cut Hole Saws. The AQC14-38 and AQC-14 fit the A1, XA1, A4, A10, XA10, A17-38 and XA17-38. The AQC14-38, AQC-14 and AQC-38 fit the complete Quickshot® Range. They provides a simple, rapid method of changing saws. Simply attach the Quick Change Connector to the chuck of the drill, then attach the shank of the arbor to the connector.

HOLE SAW COWL KIT and ACCESSORIES The Starrett Hole Saw Cowl Kit is the perfect accessory for maintaining a safe and clean worksite. The cowl collects dust, swarf and debris generated by sawing and is especially useful on vertical sawing applications. The cowl is compatible with the complete range of Starrett hole saws. This tool removes the need to cover work areas prior to sawing and eliminates extensive clean up when the job is done.

The Starrett Hole Saw Cowl attaches easily to the hole saw assembly. It is compatible with the Quick Change Connector for swift change out. You spend more time on the job and generate no mess. The Starrett Hole Saw Cowl Kit is packaged in a sturdy carrying case.

NEW Pneumatic Reciprocating Blades Starrett now offers a line of bi-metal unique® saw blades for pneumatic (or air) reciprocating saws. The line includes three blades for metal and a variable pitch multi-purpose blade for composites, steel sheets and wood.

Pneumatic saws are widely used in auto body shops, metal fabricating facilities, the sheet metal industry and a variety of other applications. Starrett Pneumatic Saw Blades are the only such blade manufactured with bi-metal unique® saw technology, for faster cutting and longer tool life. Bi-metal unique® saw technology is an exclusive Starrett process that joins two strips of high speed steel wires to a backing steel in a solid phase, using the principle of solid-state diffusion bonding instead of traditional weld or laser bonding processes and provides 170% more weld contact area, reducing fracture and breakage. Soon after initial use, the teeth develop a groove in the thin center of backing material at the cutting edge. As a result, the cutting stroke produces dual chips that are more easily removed from the cut. In controlled tests, bi-metal unique® cut 20% faster and lasted 22% longer than competing premium blades.

Available in in durable, resealable plastic packs of 5, 20 or 50 blades.

NEW Pallet Dismantling Reciprocating Blades This new bi-metal reciprocating blade is ideal for pallet dismantling and comes with a low price tag with no print or paint. Instead, the identifying information is engraved directly on the blade. The rounded tip prevents the blade from catching while cutting nails and damaged pallets.

This blade is packed and sold only in bulk boxes of 250 blades.

Ship Auger Drill Bits for Wood Boring Starrett Ship Auger Drill Bits are heavy-duty professional grade tools. Shank size is 7/16" on all drills and fits 1/2" capacity drills.

The product offering is broad and deep with a total of 25 drills available from stock. The 7-1/2" bits are ideal for tighter spots and can easily clear three 2 x 4’s. Deeper hole applications are done with the 18" offering, which includes 13 different drill diameters.
