Ridgeview High School’s International
Baccalaureate Diploma Program is a
challenging and rigorous program that
prepares students for their future in college.
Most alumni say that the program helped
them with time management, work ethic,
and motivation. Furthermore, they felt
prepared to go to college and succeed. A
2012 study shows that I.B. students are
more likely to enroll in college, stay enrolled
in college, and attend a more elective
college. The acceptance of I.B students into
universities is 22% higher than the
acceptance rate of the total population.
With a challenging course comes a higher
weighted GPA and a higher graduation rate,
which depicts the student’s future in
college. The IBDP offers 24-45 college
credits, which not only saves the student
time, but it also saves the student money.
Students will be enrolled in six classes. In
order to receive the I.B. Diploma, I.B.
students shall complete all their CAS
requirements, receive no grade 2 at a
higher level class, receive no more than one
grade 2 at a standard level class, receive no
more than grades 3 or below and no grade
1 in any subject.

The IBO website states that the I.B Program prepares students for success in college
and in life. Students will not only become independent and feel accomplished , but
they will also become well rounded individuals. The program is “designed to address
the intellectual, social, emotional, and physical well-being of students.” I.B is involved
in 3,698 schools in 147 countries around the world, and Ridgeview High School is
proud to be a part of the advantages being offered to students in Florida. Another
major element of the I.B curriculum is Creativity, Action, and Service (CAS), which
I.B students begin in their junior year and continue throughout their senior year. It is
mandatory for every student to complete this course in order to receive the I.B
Diploma. The class is only once a week and students will learn about the essential
ways of life and knowledge. The class enables students to become involved in their
community–i.e. helping people around their neighborhood, while also becoming
academically challenged through the I.B Program. CAS is a “personal journey,” where
one should enjoy the work that they do and discover the person that they are.
Students must propose a project or activity, reflect on the activity after having
accomplished it, and then provide evidence on the eight learning outcomes that they
have accomplished.

their chances of getting into their
desired colleges. Universities are
interested to see what the student’s
academic behavior is in a college like
environment. They like to see the
student challenging themselves and
having skills that meet their specific
expectations. Students wil l be
supported by their teachers and they
will always be there to help.

Dual Enrollment
Dual enrollment is an accelerated
academic program that al lows
students to experience college classes
and receive high school and college
credit at the same time. The classes
can be taken at the St. Johns River
State College and Florida State College
at Jacksonville. Students will be
provided textbooks with no cost as well
as the tuition. The county covers the
expenses. Once the student receives
the college credit, it will permanently
remain on their transcripts. Colleges
like students to take on new challenges
and they want to see the student’s
academics at the college level.
Students can earn their Associates of
Arts degree before they even graduate
from high school. Since this is a free
program, it saves students a
tremendous amount of money. The
classes that are available on the RHS
campus are English Comp I and II,
College Algebra and Elementary
Statistics, General Biology and Human
Biology. Other classes can be takes at
the St. Johns campus.

Class of 2015 Class of 2014
"IB provides students with many opportunities to expand their minds, explore their
interests, and encourage their dedication. However, the IB program also has invaluable characteristics that can sometimes escape the eyes of zealous parents
and eager students on the quest for the academic program, like the dedicated teachers and the group of students that will soon become as close as family. Yet
these smaller details are what have made the Ridgeview IB Program take up a bigger place in my heart."~~~Hana Cummings, Class of 2013
"The work ethic that I acquired because of IB has helped me excel in college as well as in life in general." Brianna Williams~~~C/O 2012
"With the IB program you have the opportunity to prove your abilities, create
strong bonds with classmates, and learn to open your mind to new ideas and v i e w s . " ~ ~ ~ N o a h D a v i s , C / O 2 0 1 4
"Through my two years in RHS-Pre-IB alone, I have reached goals I previously considered impossible. I have grown to be a better person and have learned many
skills that have turned on a blinding light in my future. I took the road less trav-eled and it definitely worked to my advantage." ~~~Alyssa Michel, Class of 2015
RHS is proud to show that 99% of the 2013 I.B alumni were accepted into UCF, 98% were accepted into FSU, and 96% were accepted into UF, and more among
the other colleges others applied. Almost 99% of the I.B seniors of 2013 were accepted into a university.
