Established in 1979 by government employees to provide a forum for communication & collaboration with their peers
National federation of ADP councils – original name was the Federation of Government Information Processing Councils (FGIPC)
Purposes – communicate, collaborate, inform, educate & train, promote the profession

INDUSTRY ADVISORY COUNCIL Established by ACT in 1989 to provide a vendor-neutral forum for
obtaining industry advice
Mission: “bring industry and government executives together to exchange information, support professional development, improve communications and understanding, solve issues and build partnership and trust, thereby enhancing government’s ability to serve the nation’s citizenry”
Purposes:– Provide a forum for studies and analysis of public sector management issues– Advise ACT and the appropriate government officials on industry trends and
other issues– Assist ACT and the government by identifying expert speakers– Provide education and training

ACT-IAC IS UNIQUE
Only organization in the IT community where government and industry sit at the table as peers
Provides an ethical and trusted environment where government and industry can communicate, collaborate and cooperate
ACT-IAC has been described:
