Approx. 6 Mha/yr productive land lost to degradation 2nd highest deforestation rate in the world Forest loss and degradation exacerbated by CC;
poor land management threaten ecological functions vital to African economies
Governance of natural resources does not favour restoration at scale and numerous barriers impede progress
