Recently members of an entrepre-neurs organisation saw some lat-est fashion trends in themarket showcased in afashion show. An inter-nationally acclaimedfashion designerspoke on creativethinking and fash-ion. The outfits

fashion ideas and timeless designswere showcased at the event for all theentrepreneurs across the state.

Not just dapper men in their tuxesand evening suits, even the ladies

sizzled in LBDs and trendynumbers. Prominent

faces like Jaydeep De-sai, Chiranjiv Pa-tel, Niren andAanal Gawar-wala, HiteshVaswani, PurvaPatel, SubirGoradia and Chi-trak Shah, werespotted enjoying

the event as theyshared animated

conversation withtheir friends over coffee

This Uttarayan, India’sno.1 and Ahmedabad’smost favourite radio

station, Radio Mirchi cameup with a unique initiative toprotect lives of allAmdavadis from brutal man-jha (thread) by distributinglife saving safety belts in theentire city. Several com-muters (especially twowheeler riders) are severelyinjured while travelling onroads due to this manjha.

To fight against the men-ace, Radio Mirchi in associa-tion with Traffic PoliceAhmedabad distributed morethan 15,000 safety belts (freeof cost) in various parts ofAhmedabad between Janu-ary 9 and 13. This CSR initia-tive was supported by CIMSHospital (Care Institute ofMedical Sciences), Binani Ce-ment and TGB (The GrandBhagwati). Uniquely de-signed, one can easily tie thesafety belt around the neckthus protecting it from lifethreatening injuries whiletravelling. The campaign re-ceived tremendous response

from Amdavadis who queuedup at various cross roads tocollect these safety belts.

DCP-Traffic SiddharthKhatri was instrumental inconduct of this activity andapplauded efforts of RadioMirchi and all their partnersfor undertaking this activity.On this occasion, Dr DhirenShah (Chief Cardiac Sur-geon) from CIMS Hospital,

Ahmedabad said, “Preven-tion is always better thanCure so we thought to preventthe injuries itself from thebeginning so that Ahme-davadis can have safe andHappy Uttarayan.” Furtherto this, Sumit Aggarwal,Cluster Head-Radio MirchiGujarat mentioned, “Apartfrom bringing entertainmentto Amdavadis, we intend to

evolve as a responsible mediacompany and this activity is astep in that direction.”The CSR initiative was pre-sented by CIMS Hospital(Care Institute of MedicalSciences), powered by BinaniCement in association withTGB and Ahmedabad TrafficPolice. This initiative wasconceptualized by RadioMirchi.

We might not have heard her inthe recent times, but it’s hardto forget that voice we have all

loved and adored. Whether it was thefun filled Hawa Hawai or the song ofthe monsoons Pyar Hua Chupke Se,Kavita Krishnamurti Subramaniamhas rendered wholehearted perform-ances giving those songs the life theydeserved. She was in the city recently,with her son and husband Dr L Subra-maniam, for a concert where AT caughtup with her for a quick chat and shewas more than happy to oblige.

Sharing her experience performingin Ahmedabad she says, “I have come

here before as well and have alwaysbeen well received by the audience. Am-davadis are very fond of music and theynot only enjoy the popular music, butthey appreciate different kind of musicas well.” She adds, “I had come to per-form Bollywood songs in the past andthe arena used to be packed, and todaywhen I have come for a different style offusion, the arena is still filled with en-thusiastic people, which shows theylove music. I am happy to have comehere.”

So what is keeping her busy since sheis not doing many Bollywood songsthese days? Kavita says with her signa-ture smile, “I have been touring withmy husband all around the world and

meeting various musicians who playexotic instruments. And I am totally en-joying that. Meeting them backstage,getting to know them and their music isa fulfilling journey. I am totally loving

this phase.” She adds, “I am also busywith the series of concerts my husbanddoes which is dedicated to his father, ac-tively participating with them is likecarrying forward the tradition. My sonis also performing with us now and see-ing him share the stage with his fathermakes me feel very proud.”

So is she interested in coming back toBollywood? She says, “I don’t mind atall. I recently did a song in Rockstar, butI am not getting good songs right nowand have done enough Bollywood songsto be bothered. The lyrics of the songshave to be good and if that kind is of-fered to me, then I will surely take it.”

We hope that we soon get to hear thatsilken voice again.
