AMU Newsletter: The AMU President sent out a newsletter via the Green dot server in late September. The next one will be emailed December 10th.If you would like to submit a piece for the newsletter please email it to [email protected] by December 3rd, 2014 for approval.
November 3rd Phone Banking before election day:AMU’s regularly scheduled rep council meeting will be canceled due to the upcoming November election. In lieu of our monthly rep council meeting site reps will be phone banking at CTA. All members are welcome to attend and participate in phone banking.
Financial Planning: During the months of October and January Green dot will be holding financial information sessions for members. This is a great opportunity to learn about the various retirement options available through Green dot and the state.

Counselor Supervision- AMU and management met to further discuss the
issue. AMU shared its interest and options. AMU gave management a grievance. The grievance will start at the Level II. AMU has amended its plan on concerted activities
based on managements response Thank you for supporting the counselors in this
effort.

During the second semester AMU will have a happy hour for all members. A date will be finalized soon!!
Treasurer Report
Treasurer is working on the budget for the 2014-2015 fiscal year. Budget will be finalized in December.
Committee Reports
Benefits Committee
The benefits committee has scheduled its first meeting for October 28th.

Bargaining Committee
Bargaining survey will be sent out in mid October. Reopeners will be sunshined October 29th.

Grievance Cont..Counselor evaluation grievance- Level IIIThis grievance is carried over from last year. A counselor’s evaluation was not followed according to the contract. She was being evaluated by two administrators without being informed. Her goals meeting took place after the deadline. She was given low scores despite having shown that she met the criteria.
Grievance cont…Locke School Wide-Start time/Clocking In: Admin at Locke unilaterally decided to implement a
“Teacher Preparation Time Before School.” They distributed a bell schedule requiring members to be at school 25 minute before the start of school.
AMU filed a grievance. We are currently at the informal level
Dress Code: Locke distributed a gender base dress code to members
during the first week of school. AMU filed a demand to bargain under the notion that
this presented a change in working conditions. We demanded the dress code at Locke follow the dress
code in the Green dot Handbook.
OLD Business
A site rep moved to change the start and end time of AMU Rep Council meetings from 5:00 to 7:00 to 4:30 to 6:30 pm. However, the motion did not pass. All AMU Rep Council meetings will start at 5:00 and end at 7:00.
New Business
The rep council passed a motion enabling AMU to sign an MOU with management that will implement the counselor pilot evaluation for the 2014-2015 school year. This pilot will only be implemented at a select group of schools. Piloting counselors and administrators will have the opportunity to evaluate and provide feedback about the evaluation process throughout the year.
