12. Prohibition: Ban the sale, production, distribution of alcohol. 18th amendment.
13. Scopes Trial: “Monkey Trial” put ideas of Evolution on trial in Tennessee. Challenging traditional ideas.
14. 19th amendment: Women gain the right to vote.
1920's : "Roaring 20's", "Jazz Age" Period of great change- modern America is born for first time the census reflected an urban
society - people had moved into cities to enjoy a higher standard of living

Blacks moved north to take advantage of wartime industry (Great Migration) - Black ghettos began to form, (Harlem)
