It is through these publications at AndrewCharlton has attempted to provide the readerenlightenment concerning the inextricablerelationship between environmentalsustainability and poverty. Throughout hispublications, Charlton has attempted to showhow a decrease in the epidemic of povertythroughout Australia is directly related to awave of climate pragmatism; a relationshipthat continues to persist through theAustralian parliament to this day. Nowworking in a position for Coles, Charlton ishopeful that economically-friendly and fairtrade policies will continue to be a part of thenational discussion, and that Australia will becontinue to consider the need for economicpolicies that take both the environment andthe issue of poverty into consideration.
