The following images are screen shots and details of work used by or created by students that I have worked with for the past ten years in education.
Edmodo is a website that boasts social learning. In this shot, 5th grade students are asked to respond to a post about a book they
are reading.
Kindergarten students helped collect data and create a graph in Microsoft Excel. Students were able to create their own graph
during work stations using a task card for directions.
I used laptops in the classroom every other week to motivate students to publish their writing. Here, a 1st grade student shows
procedural text and has highlighted important words.
Also during writing, this 1st grade student adds clip art to her creative writing piece!
Laptop use in the 1st grade classroom. Some students are writing in journals, some are using laptops.
During math stations, students add text to Notebook slides to create number sentences. The student then acts out the story and writes a
corresponding number sentence on the interactive whiteboard.
A kindergarten student adds pictures and text to demonstrate prior knowledge of living and nonliving things.
A 1st grade student manipulates pictures for sequencing using the Smart Slate.
During literacy centers, a 1st grade student creates anagrams of high frequency words using Notebook and the interactive
whiteboard.
A kindergarten student creates a book using a presentation application. Here, Naomi deleted pictures of things that were not in the –ap family,
then added text to label the pictures of things that are in the –ap family. The teacher helps Naomi print the book in handout form to create a small
book.
