Process Water System Improvements
• Clogging of PRW strainers while processing conventional munitions.
• Installed Bleed Water System (BWS) modification to increase tank and filter capacity.

Agent Contamination Improvements
• Some agent migration was experienced in Loading Chamber Two during the Chemical Munitions campaign. This was expected due the design of the system at that time. Lessons Learned have been incorporated into subsequent designs to lessen agent migration into this part of the system.
• At all times agent vapors were in engineering controls.
• We wanted to find a way to evacuate the agent vapors during non-processing times more efficiently.
• Two improvements were made to the system.
• A bypass valve was installed around the orifice in the off gas piping.
• A vent line on Loading Chamber Two was modified to allow a path directly to the Thermal Oxidizer.

Bypass Valve around the Orifice
• During periods were detonations are not expected in the detonation chamber the bypass valve is open allowing an increased flow from the detonation chamber and loading chamber two.

Venting of the Loading Chambers
• The Loading Chamber One and Two can now be vented directly to the Thermal Oxidizer.

Future Improvements
• There are currently two improvements scheduled to be preformed in September of this year.
• A chiller will be installed on the downstream side of the Induced Draft fans to remove moisture in the system.
• A system will be installed on the off gas piping to cool the piping. This will increase throughput during peak rates.

Summary
• The transparency and open communication between URS, U.S. Army and Dynasafe is what lead to the improvements.
• All of these process improvements have been integrated into the new designs of the Static Detonation Chambers and Off Gas Treatment Systems.
• The design improvements were a joint effort between Dynasafe, URS and the U.S. Army.
• Dynasafe is committed to continuous improvement through lessons learned of previous and existing operating facilities.
