St. Patrick’s of Tekamah:

“Jesus said to them again, ‘Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you.’”

- JOHN 20:21 - Peace – the first gift of the risen Lord. Just as Jesus sent the apostles out into the world, so too, He sends us. As disciples of Jesus, we are called to be grateful n d generous. Look for opportunities to share His peace, not only within our local parish boundaries, but outside of them as well. In giving, we receive the peace of Jesus Christ.

Children’s good deed: “I served at Mass 4 days in a row, I helped take care of the dog; I made a card for grandma & grandpa.”

From Fr. Kevin… The reality of the Resurrection was a fact that

had to be established among the early Christian

community. On this 2nd Sunday of Easter, in

our gospel St. John is establishing the fact of

Jesus’ resurrection with his clear focus on

physical details that assert the authenticity of

Jesus having been raised from the dead by the

Father. It is more than a spiritual reality. After

showing the disciples his wounds, Jesus

breathes on them as God first breathed on

Adam, initiating a new creation of which they

will be the heralds. They are to be bearers of a

wondrous privilege of the forgiveness of sins.

In our first reading from The Acts of the

Apostles we see the Twelve Apostles as a

magnet that draws believers, enlivened by

the Holy Spirit to share their experience of the

risen Christ. They have become powerful

evangelists winning hearts to Christ, transforming lives. On this Divine Mercy

Sunday we see how God’s mercy and the

teaching of the Apostles work to turn hearts

into fertile ground for the seed of the Gospel to

sprout into a bountiful harvest! May each of us

have a profound experience of the Risen Jesus

this Easter season.

Peace, Fr. Kevin

Congratulations to our Confirmandi, who were confirmed at St. Francis of Borgia in Blair on Saturday. May God Bless them and empower with the Holy Spirit. We also thank Mrs. Ali Petersen, Scott Niewohner and Lyle Pille, their parents, DRE Mrs. Ashley Olson and Fr. Kevin for their efforts, assistance and guidance.

FAITH FACTS Mercy endures forever

In the Old Testament, mercy (Hebrew, hesed) usually identifies a complex Hebrew idea that describes God’s special covenant love. God’s desire to be in communion with us as covenant with us as covenant partners reveals an attitude of divine love and faithfulness that includes loyalty, compassion, dependability, trustworthiness, and an eagerness to help when situations turn bad. And once God commits to the people in covenant fidelity, there is no question of God ever retracting that commitment. God’s covenant love will never end.

The Lighter Side Q. What did the big flower say to the little one? A. “You’re really growing, bud.” Q. How do you know bees are happy? A. They hum while they work. Q. What flowers grow on faces? A. Tulips (two-lips).
