India's economy doubled in size from 1990 to 2005, but the number of hungry in the country had risen by 65 million during the period.
The results of the government's largest nutritional programme, the 36-year-old Integrated Child Development Scheme, have been mixed. It provides nutrition to children below the age of five years - children get snacks and hot cooked meals at lunch. Programme failed to get success.
The states that suffer from hunger and malnutrition the most include Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Orissa, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.

Wastage of Food• 15% and 20% of cooked food at weddings,
parties or restaurants is wasted as well.
• Daily people throwing food after meals, may help to feed atleast 1 person from waste 5-6 people
• Food wasted at home at individual level.
• Food wasted in hotels, never get distributed always dumped in garbage
Distribution and Storage losses
• Nearly 30% of the country's fruits and vegetables perish due to a lack of cold-storage facilities, while thousands of tons of food-grain spoil in ill-equipped warehouses.
• Distribution losses of more than 30% of the grain supplied plagues the giant distribution network, and food often doesn't reach the poor.
• Retail Shops throwing away vegetables and fruits.
Are we doing our bit?Saving food and making optimum utilisation of same
Or We are busy in blaming the government or just we will feel poor.
Will government look for root cause or just keep on launching the various failed Schemes.
Will we raise voice as citizen.
