Students learn how to rotate a figure around a given degree around a center. Students know that rotations move lines to lines, rays to rays, segments to segments, and angles to angles, WHILE preserving angle measure, and line/segment lengths.

Key Ideas Notes.

1. Rotations turn a figure a certain degree, d, between 360 and 360 degrees. 360 < d < 360

2. Degrees greater than 0, you rotate LEFT! (COUNTER CLOCKWISE)

3. Degrees less than 0, you rotate RIGHT! (CLOCKWISE)

4. Rotations are (usually) performed around a certain point in the plane, which we will call O.

5. Rotations are distance preserving and angle preserving (DOES NOT change angles or lengths).
