Inquire

• Significant Questions for Students

• How can the past truly affect our future?

• Do both the past and future have more in common than we think?

• Events from the past tie into our modern times and shape our future. Will this always be the case?

Page 15: Artful learning

Creation

• Students will focus on the Incas, Aztecs and Mayans from the Indigenous tribes of South/Central America.

• Students will create a collage of pictures that relate their certain tribe with modern day architecture that reflects those original works.

Page 16: Artful learning

Creation cont…

• Students will work in groups to complete the project as well as write a 3-page paper on the dynamics of previous architecture and its effect on modern day work.

• The final step will be to have students present their work to their classmates and describe in detail the particular tribes contributions to modern day architecture and its effect on various cultures in the world today.

Page 17: Artful learning

Reflect

• What new ideas do you have about the architecture that you didn’t have before?

• How can we utilize the architecture from the past to help us with new creations?

• Do you believe that our modern architecture will be used moving forward into the future and will our architecture ever be thought of as ancient? Why?
