Bivariate Hypothesis: Since the early 1980s, Rap music has become a major part of the
American society. Based on the data, people between the ages of 18-29 enjoy rap music more
(9.8%) than people who are 40 years of age and over (1.0%). The data also shows that ages 18-
29 has the highest percentages of dislikes amongst rap music (45.1%) and ages 40 and above
have a percentage of 55.1% who dislike rap music. Based on the data, more people dislike rap
music (50.5%) than those who like rap music (2.9%).
Bivariate Discussion: The data above really shocked me. Most people believe may believe that
young people like rap music; however, the data shows that there are a large percentage of people
who dislike rap music. When thinking about this, why are we seeing these numbers? I believe
that people dislike rap music because of how it sounds or what it may contain. I was not surprise
that people over 40 dislike rap music because it is not a part of their culture, but I was surprise
that young people also disliked rap music.

Multivariate Hypothesis: Based on the data above, there are more Black Respondents than
White Respondents who like rap music. For the White Respondents, only 7.8% (ages 18-29)
who like rap music compared to 23.7% of Black Respondents (ages 18-29) who like rap music.
Looking at the data again and in that same age group, 45.1% of White Respondents dislike rap

music compared to 46.1% of Black Respondents. Looking at the overall data, only 2.0% of
Whites like rap music whereas 8.7% of Blacks like rap music.
Multivariate Discussion: The data above showed some very interesting findings. Depending on
the age category, there will be more White Respondents who like rap than Black Respondents
or vice versa. The data also showed that rap music is cultural to Black Respondents than White
Respondents. One thing that I did found interesting that the numbers for both Black and White
Respondents (ages 18-29) dislike rap music as well. Both respondents have a high number of
dislikes for rap music and to me this was very interesting.
