Wow!! It is hard to believe that school is beginning next week! It seems that the summer has just started and already it has passed us by. My dad always told me that the older I got, the faster time would fly. As always, he was correct.
One of the great things about this time of year is that it is an excellent opportunity to establish priorities as we move into this new season. As a staff, we want to encourage you to make your commitment to Father God and to His church a priority for the coming months. In this interim period, we need folks to step up in attendance, in prayer, and in giving. God has been so good to us over the summertime in a financial way. Let’s continue to give strongly so that the ministries of First Baptist can continue to serve His Kingdom and our community.
Prayer is another way in which you can give back to our church. Sunday, our nominating committee announced the members of our pastor search committee. What a strong and capable group of people you have elected to serve on this team! You will find those names listed elsewhere in this newsletter. Please continue in prayer for these members as they are seeking God’s man to lead our congregation. Another prayer concern is for our students and school employees that will be headed back to school next week. We will have a special time of prayer this coming Sunday for these individuals and the task that lies ahead for each of them. I hope you will make them a matter of prayer throughout the year as well as join with us in this special time of prayer.
Finally, let me encourage you to be present for Bible study and worship each week in the coming months. We are not complete and the best we can be without each of us present. Vince is doing an awesome job preaching and teaching us each week. You don’t want to miss what God is speaking through Him every Sunday. God is changing lives every week through our worship and Bible study. Please make a commitment to make us stronger as we walk through this interim period together.
What a blessing you are to serve with here at FBC. May God continue to use us as we worship, study, give and pray together.
