Coke Joke: The Story of My Addiction
MICHELE LAPRELLF O R S A L E
Art Contest 2015
Southwest Network
1st Place
Copyright © 2015 by the artist
“I ’m SUCH A FOOL!” I told myself.
Then snatched my cocaine off the shelf;
How FAST my hard-earned paycheck goes
When I BLOW IT up my nose!
The many time I ’ve put it down,
Straightened up and turned around,
I ’ve always “wandered back” again –
To my surprise, I just can ’t win.
What WILL IT TAKE to make me quit?
How COSTLY will this habit get?
I ’ll ask myself just one last time,
As I take just one last line…
This poem was crumpled in my drawer,
Unfinished for two years or more;
Through tears, I read each painful verse,
I see my habit ’s now much worse.
Although, through rehab, all I ’d learned,
Not one more paycheck have I earned;
I ’ve lost my job, my house, myself –
DAMN THAT COCAINE ON MY SHELF!
My nose was raw, and wouldn ’t drain,
So I just “tried it” in my vein;
Cocaine, disguised as my best friend;
Such evil I ’d not comprehend.
My cocaine habit, up ’til then
Just multiplied itself by ten;
I don ’t know why; I don ’t know how,
But, I ’m a hardcore addict now.
Cocaine, you once gave me relief,
But, now you only cause me grief;
You took away my common sense;
You made me weak; you made me tense.
You even took away my pride,
And left me emptiness inside;
And, while striving for your high,
I can ’t believe you made me lie.
I live in guilt, I cry in shame;
I always “score,” yet, never gain –
Now friends and family are concerned;
You ’d think, by now, I would have learned.
I cry and break my last syringe,
As I complete another binge;
Intelligent I used to be –
A junkie is now all I see.
“Coke Joke”The Story of my Addiction
Perhaps I ’d write a different rhyme,
If I could just go back in time;
A normal life I could ’ve had
If I had tried a different fad.
The great mistake of TRYING coke
Being the punch line of the joke;
Your need will then increase in size,
Much sooner than you realize –
Overnight, you ’ll lose control;
For one more hit, you ’ll sell your soul –
Let me make this very clear;
What matters MOST will disappear!
Heed my warning; please, you must;
Your interest soon will turn to lust;
What can I do to make you see
That you can turn out just like me?
But, if I keep ONE SINGLE SOUL
From falling in this Hellish hole,
I ’ll feel it ’s been worth living through;
I ’d rather it were me than you –
Cocaine, the demon, takes control;
Destroys your life, and every goal;
You ’ll never, ever be the same –
SO, PLEASE DON ’T EVEN TRY COCAINE.

Wow & Wow-ee
What can I do
What’s good
Self to Self … Am I talking, or is that me talking to myself
Life is Kosher and a long running ka-bitz
Definitely gotta get a good Jewish Mother
Wow and Wow-ee, again
Keeping Left away from Right is a beginning ka-bitz
Compromise after long long while is Royal
But
Where’s the middle
Answer
Put both hands together in Prayer, what is the symbol before eyes
New middles, and new option and more choices like 3rd, 4th, 5th choice happens
= Dynamics & Versitle & Renew = self created resources (plurals)
This is how the middle of a ka-bitz is found
A good ka-bitz never ends
The rest of a ka-bitz is rich social interaction

Where Am I or I Am where & how.
Multitude of choices = fine
But … new, from among the newest
Do we refer to the ka-bitz
Do we render mindless answers before the question ever given
Do we receive, give, wonder upon wonder
Are we good, bad, indifferent w/o task completion on ka-bitzing
The wonder is how how easily we understand and easily do
with second nature given only
moments ago

Woops, or Whoops and Woo-Wee
Time and Tide are task masters of us all.
Extreme opposites give rise to fame and fortune.
Time gives ‘Wow’ and ‘Oh my God’ results changing things earthly
Tide gives us the vulgar or the vanished
Vanished
What vanished
Need ask where vanished
Love vanishes in a vacuum
Real Hope vanishes when a fool practices kindness
Real Hope revealed is within our thoughts pronounced as Fun insight
Tasks are gone once Fun appears Fun as the Task either begins or ends
Fun into Smile into Laughter fills the middle from st point & end point
Fund into Smile is Leader
Fun into Smile into Laughter is the owner of business at hand
Fun into Smile into Laughter into Smile into Fun is the indoctrination process
Indoctrinate time is brainwash time
Brainwashing can be Fun

Silly, oh sake silly
Twilled thoughts cement on the horizon of material wealth
Sementary is give loftyness a vertical Home and distribution
No one gives without the thought of somewhere, somehow a return
When
When a return
When a return ever happens is up to Fun insight
Fun insight gives for some pranks & knowledge
Fun insight gives for some a Dollar to the Bank
Are Fun Talks better or are Fun is as Fun does better.

Brother William, Do You Know Marilyn
RICHARD BEEMANF O R S A L E
Did the bright buzz of paint join our futures
Do so many of us see the dazzle buzz color
brightness, can we touch it and see your pain
Feel our emptiness fight Marilyn’s legacy
Did Mr. Lincoln know Marilyn
Unlike other presidents he had a blood line
Brother Blake could you feel his pain
Could you follow Edgers path to the bar
That night, of shouting put away people
Can today’s throw aways talk to Mr. Kennedy
Mr. Lincoln where was your voice back then
Mr. Kennedy knows Marilyn but he’s quiet
Her/Your essence runs fluvial through
Our tangled relations, Brother William
Everything is so quiet on the front, Mr. Blake
ye those damn fleas, Mr. Blake
They have a life
They are anything but quiet
And they are mad
Copyright © 2015 by the artist
Fleas in the furniture
Buzzing in the skull
Mr. Blake did he have a soul?
Did he bite her on the night
She wrote the Monroe Doctrine
In a painful death rattle scrawl
Ain’t it funny, Mr. Blake doesn’t know Marilyn
Kennedy doesn’t talk about us
yet we live through you, sometimes, somehow
In all this comical puzzle justice
Now we’re the soulless people with the fleas
Could you tell them brother William
Could you plead for our lives Mr. Blake
Will you shout from your private cell head
That we love, we create, we exist
In a world of fleas in a world of crying souls
We live we thrive half-alive brother William
Did you recognize the Dutchman, Mr. Blake
Did his vision create fleas did it create you.
BROTHER WILLIAM DID YOU KNOW MARILYN
SOZO: Saved, Healed, and Delivered
STEVEN KAYIIRAF O R S A L E
With his trembling hands and zombie-like face, he made his way to the front
He was elderly and was stricken with Bi-polar and several other diseases
No hope and of little faith
Yet, maybe there was a chance
A chance to touch the garment of Jesus and be healed
He had heard of the Holy Man from Nazareth
But, mostly rumors
The dead could walk
The blind could see
And with a word they were healed
What sort of Magic was this?
He didn’t care as long as he could get rid of the voices
And the sickness
Copyright © 2015 by the artist
SOZO: Saved, Healed, and Delivered
The Master saw him from a distance and called him by name
He asked him, “ … do you believe?”
The old man stepped back surprised by the question
And quickly answered, “ … Yes, I think so”
“ … Then go home and be made complete
… your faith of a mustard seed has healed you”
And miraculously he was healed
His head cleared, his tremble straightened out, and his mind became one
His face was full of color and eyes full of hope
In the end we all have the faith of a mustard seed. The mustard seed is so tiny
it barely fits on the finger. So we all possess that amount of faith. So we can
all get healed and bring God’s Kingdom closer to earth.
