Project Purpose

Bedford is looking to redesign two pieces of their current textbook “Media & Culture”; five chapter-opening infographics, and several single-page inserts that will be new to the next edition, pointing readers to other sections of the book. The intention of the projects will be to thread together multiple topics, allowing students to correlate how different aspects of media are connected.

Design Objectives

Easy to ComprehendDisplaying highly complex information means that visuals must be easy to understand, and easy to connect with. The new model should be communicated in a clear, strong, and visual voice.

ContemporaryWhen designing for content where trends are constantly changing, the structure should be approached with a smart, precise concept that allows the message to be easily received and remain relevant to the data.

Distinct Relationships The infographic should engage students through an inspiring and accessible design solution. Incorporating the concept of a circular, interconnected methodology creates a greater understanding of the whole system.

How are smartphones being used?

Do you own a smart- phone or tablet? If so, consider how much time you spend using it, and what you use it for.

Smartphones and tablets allow us to consume almost all forms of media in one place, anywhere there’s an lnternet or data connection. What are some possible drawbacks to this?
