Accounting is the information backbone of any business and is critical for the
successful management of any organization. Accounting data is used by managers to
measure financial performance, control operations and provide financial reports to the
investment community. All functional areas in a business (such as marketing, production,
human resources, finance and information technology) use accounting information in
their daily operations.
you might enjoy accounting if you like logic and order; you take a step-by-step approach to
problem solving; you analyze your options before making decisions; you did well in algebra
or statistics; you’re detail-oriented; you enjoy teamwork.

Economics is the study of choices. Unlike many other disciplines, studying
economics does not teach you specific answers to a given question, but rather how
to approach the question, and reasonable and rational methods for obtaining the
answer. If you like to question the status quo, economics may be for you.
you might enjoy economics if you have excellent math skills; you can work “in the gray;”
you did well in calculus or statistics; you like using logic and reasoning; you enjoy
finding connections among ideas; you can see the big picture; you rely on research and
data to make decisions; you’re always asking “what if.”

environment affects decision-making. Finance is an area that allows rapid progression in
a wide range of careers. In fact, many CEOs have a finance background.
you might enjoy finance if you did well in algebra and statistics; you’re a whiz at excel; you
like to set long-term goals; you’re analytical by nature; people call you a problem solver;
