Yacht GarbaGe DisposalAshore, there is only one place to dispose of yacht garbage – the skips located off the Fish Market Jetty
next to the Vegetable Market. These are reserved exclusively for yachties’ use. Alternatively, yacht garbage may be delivered “at sea” to Daffodil Marine or other reliable water taxis;
charge usually $3.00 to $5.00 per bag. Dumping in unauthorized places is a prosecutable offence.

BEQUIA NEW YEAR’S EVE CELEBRATIONS 2010/11Everyone who watched the fireworks in Admiralty Bay on New Year’s Eve is agreed that the midnight
display was a triumph over seemingly insuperable weather odds, a fitting climax to the Christmas season in Bequia and a splendid way to see in the New Year.
Our aim is to make Bequia a great Christmas and New Year destination and there are many who are helping to make this happen. You will recall that I had indicated earlier that there would be no fireworks this year as I had despaired about the apparent lack of interest for the project within the Bequia community.
However, as a result of the enthusiastic fund-raising initiative by Dee Williams and the continued commitment of our most loyal supporters, we were able to submit our order for the fireworks in a timely fashion once again this summer.

Special appreciation goes to the Management and crew of the Sand Pit and of the tug america for providing the facilities and logistical support in Admiralty Bay, and to the “Fireworks Team” at the Frangi.
Finally, my very grateful thanks go to the fearless “Bang Gang” whose skill, enthusiasm and commitment ensures each year that all of Bequia can enjoy a very special New Year’s Eve.
We hope to continue our New Year’s Eve Fireworks tradition for 2011/12, but can only do so with the financial support of the whole community.
