AbstractIn recent interviews for the French press, Pedro Almodóvar comments on evolutions as well as personal and natio-nal differences in his work. Both the audience and the critics received his late work, Julieta, as an innovation cha-racterised by the abandonment of certain cliché, of the cañí and of a stereotyped representation of the woman...Itcan be proposed by a nuanced reading of this film, if we trust the semiotic evidences, we can accept that theresource of inter-textuality cannot be mistaken with the presence of a cultural text. What is given as fatum, destiny,tragedy, is set on a silence that is not the one of infernal judges, but of the absence, absence of parents –whensome contours of the feminine are blurred, as always to the end, as well as their hypothetical partners’ ones, whichare not any sharper– absence of family and even absence of tribe. Will that not be another occurrence of a bitterpostmodern experience which is portrayed in this film?

ResumenPedro Almodóvar, en recientes entrevistas a la prensa francesa, afirma evoluciones, diferencias, propias y nacio-nales y tanto el público como la crítica recibieron su última obra, Julieta, como una novedad significada por elabandono de algunos clichés, de lo cañí, de una representación estereotipada de la mujer… Si nos fiamos deindicios semióticos, si aceptamos que el recurso a la intertextualidad queda inconfundible con la presencia de untexto cultural se puede proponer una lectura matizada de esta película. Lo que se da como fatum, destino, tra-gedia, se asentaría sobre un silencio que no es el de los jueces infernales sino el de la ausencia, ausencia depadres –cuando se desdibujan algunos contornos de los personajes femeninos, como siempre, al final, no salenmás nítidos los de sus hipotéticos acompañantes–, ausencia de familia y hasta ausencia de tribu. ¿No será loque se presenta en este film otra ocurrencia de una vivencia amarga de la postmodernidad?
