ABSTRACT World has been constantly struggling with the
energy problems. Scientists are searching for new economic, clean, renewable and efficient sources of energy. Despite of all the expensive and tremendous research, we are unable to find any reliable energy resource which will satisfy all our needs. Now the world has been introduced to BloomEnergy, a new entry in the fuel cell business which claims to be ready to revolutionize the energy economy.
INTRODUCTIONAbout 80 to 90 percent electricity used in
world came from non renewable fossil fuelsUse of fossil fuels in electricity production
release lot os potentially harmful gases in airFossil fuels are in limited quantitySustainability is major problem of fossil fuels
WHAT IS BLOOM BOX ?
Built solid oxide fuel cell technology, Bloom's Energy Server is a new class of distributed power generator, producing clean, reliable, affordable electricity at the customer site.
The Bloom Energy Server uses thin white ceramic plates (100 × 100 mm) that are made from components found in beach sand
WHAT IS SOFC ?
SOLID OXIDE FUEL CELLS (SOFC) are devices that convert fuel into electricity through a clean electro-chemical process rather than dirty combustion. They are like batteries except that they always run
HOW SOFC WORK ?A fuel cell is like a battery that always runs. It
consists of three parts: an electrolyte, an anode, and a cathode.
For a solid oxide fuel cell, the electrolyte is a solid ceramic material. The anode and cathode are made from special inks that coat the electrolyte. Unlike other types of fuel cells, no precious metals, corrosive acids, or molten materials are required.
Next, an electrochemical reaction converts fuel and air into energy, specifically electricity without combustion.

WORKINGA solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) is a high
temperature fuel cell. At high temperature, warmed air enters the cathode side of the fuel cell and steam mixes with fuel to produce reformed fuel… which enters on the anode side.
Next, the chemical reaction begins in the fuel cell. As the reformed fuel crosses the anode, it attracts oxygen ions from the cathode. The oxygen ions combine with the reformed fuel to produce electricity, water, and small amounts of carbon dioxide.

produce oxygen on Mars but when NASA scrapped mars mission Sridhar reversed his mars machine, pumping oxygen instead of making oxygen
COST OF BLOOM ENERGY SEVERThe current cost of bloom energy server of
100 kW capacity cost $700000 to $800000 with 3 years of recovery period
Bloom box neccassary to run indian avg. Home will cost $5000 with recovery period 5 to 6 years
ADVANTAGES OF BLOOM BOX ENERGYLower cost energy resourseFuel flexibleSustainabilityIncreased realiablity and sustainabilitySimple installation and maintainence
CO2 EMISSION
STRATEGIC IMPACT
REDUCE THE ELECTRICITY COST

John donahoe eBay’s CEO says its five boxes were installed over a Year ago and have already saved the company $200000 in electricity costs
RISKSThe technology is still in inception stageThe cost of bloom box is not economical yetHigh operating temprature
TECHNICAL CONCLUSIONSWhen comparing fuel cells wind & solar
power there are several important factors to note
First a bloom box still requires some sort of fuel to be operated. This fuel is some kind of hydrocarbon so it still add CO2 in atmosphere
Second wind and solar power are not able to produce constant level of electricity
Lastly due to their variable nature wind & solar plant of 100kw do not provide the same amount of power as bloom box.
