COMRADES CLUB TENT and UMBRELLAS ON THE ROUTE
The Club Gazebo will be at Hillcrest, near the Fire Station (at about 60km). The people in
control will be Japie and Marie Dorfling, but they need help, so who can offer please.
This is not a job that can be done by only two people.
Please note that if Marie and Japie do not have any other people helping them they will do
their utmost to hand out goodies to our club runners with Seedings A and B but thereafter
runners will have to wait or find their goodies themselves.

you to the Pasta Party and place it in the HILLCREST box that will be located in the VIP
Hall. (Please ensure your goodies are well marked with your RACE NUMBER and NAME

Melony and Louis Liebenberg will have a stationary point for club members at Camperdown
- around 65kms to go. As the runners approach the town of Camperdown they run on the
bridge that crosses over the railway line, the road bends left and drops into the town.
The point will be on the right hand side before the official water point and before the
town. They will have a club umbrella up to help with identification, but runners who leave
goodies with them must please look for them as it is not always possible to see everyone
that goes by.
If you have any goodies that you would like to have at the Gazebo, please bring it with
you to the Pasta Party and place it in the CAMPERDOWN box that will be located in the
VIP Hall. (Please ensure your goodies are well marked with your RACE NUMBER and

Taper for Comrades
With Comrades just around the corner, everyone is talking about it. Tapering… and how?
Well, just cut your mileage down by 30%, meaning your everyday runs.
You might say “I will lose all my hard work and fitness!”
That is not so. What you must do is replace the 30% loss in mileage with 30% more effort in your pace.
All your runs must be run at a slightly faster pace. Make sure that the turnover speed of your legs is faster.
This is called cadence, increase your cadence by adding an extra stride or two per kilometer.
I wish all of you only the best.
Regards
Reinette
Thought for the week: “Courage is fear holding on a minute longer.”~

Message from Social Convenor – Madelein Oberholzer.
Dear Club Member, I've had quite a few queries on how we get to R90-00 per person for the Ache's and Pains party to be held at Ferreira’s. (For your information in 2011 the cost was R80.00 at Biggles).
The costing per person has been worked out to cover the following: Hiring of the venue R1500-00 (Boksburg club members only, closed to the public) DJ R 1000-00 for the night Food R 45-00 per person
I know that it sounds very expensive for either a Prego roll and chips or hake and chips, but believe me, when I went to book the venue my husband and I each had one of the meals to see the quality and quantity, it really was tasteful, a generous portion of food and we truly enjoyed the meals.
Herewith attached photo's that we took of the meals we had.
Thank you, Madelein Oberholzer Boksburg Athletic Club Social Convener E-mail: [email protected]
