Focus on the Green Mine project
As a responsible player, OCP Group’s development program is subject to a sustainable environmental approach.
As part of this effort, OCP is embracing a novel visionof mining site rehabilitation.
Each mining extraction plan is complete with a blueprintfor the future rehabilitation of the sites involved, the
objective being to minimize the impact of the Group’s activities in its operational areas while setting up a
sustainable development dynamic in the region for the benefit of neighboring communities.

Integrating mining site rehabilitation starting from the extraction planning stage
OCP Group plans the rehabilitation of its mining sites from the very start of mining activities. Such rehabilitation blueprints provide for the retrieval of all topsoil and its storage for the duration of mining operations.
Eventually, the excavated material is used to develop usable farmland.

Specific criteria for the selection of development activities
OCP’s mining site rehabilitation approach allows the Group to prepare the lands involved accommodate structuring projects. The livestock or vegetal sectors are pre-selected according to the local soil composition, the region’s climate and the financial profitability of the project being considered.
Being committed to the promotion of innovation and entrepreneurship, OCP Group pays particular attention to the creation of innovation platforms and job creating projects.

An "Ecosystem" approach
The new favored rehabilitation method calls for grading development. The first surfacing work initiated in 2014 has already produced over1,200 hectares of developed surfaces.
This approach is also an integral component of OCP Group’s desire to sustain and support the creation of structuring agricultural projects contributing to the socio-economic development of the region and of the local communities.

The Green Mine project involves the rehabilitation of former mining facilities covering 330 hectares of land to the North-east of Khouribga. It is a sustainable urban development planned to preserve ecosystems and optimize resources.
This project will actually serve as a green lung for the city while developing the equipment required for environmental and natural resource protection. A water treatment plant will be used to treat wastewater and recycle for optimized irrigation.
At the same time, a media library and a central offices and businesses mail have already been built to provide for the city’s economic development and cultural activities.
