TheBudgetManagementReportisanOLAP(OnlineAnalyticalProcessing)report.AlthoughOLAPisanexcellenttoolforbudgetingandforecasting,it’smuchdifferentthanthestandardreportingweareusedto.TheseinstructionsexplainhowtoruntheBudgetManagementReport.

Click“Launch”tolaunchthereport.
Onceloggedin,youwillbetakentotheMainMenu
Simplyselectoneormorehistoricalfiscalyearsthatyouwouldliketocomparetothecurrentfiscalyear.Youwillnoticetheabsenceofthecurrentfiscalyear.Thisisbecausethereportautomaticallyselectsthisforyou.
Onceyouhavechosenyourhistoricalfiscalyears,chooseoneormoreOrgstodisplay.DependingonwhatlevelofsecurityyouhavetoanOrg,youmayseeoneormanyOrgsinthelistbox.
AfterselectingthehistoricalyearsandtheOrgstodisplay,simplyclickthe“Run”buttontolaunchtheprogram.Thereportshouldreturnresultsquickly,howeverifseveralOrgsareselectedtogether,itwilltakemoretime.
Belowisthedefaultviewofthereportoncethereporthasreturnedresults.
Atthispoint,youcanseetheoverallnumbersforeachOrg.Todrilldowntoseeindividualaccounts,simplyclickthe“Expand”buttontotheleftoftheOrg#toexpand.
ThiswillexpandtheOrgtoshowthenameoftheorg.
IfyouselecttheexpandbuttonnexttotheOrgname,ittakesyoutotheaccounttypes.
Youcancontinuetoexpandanddrilldownthroughtheavailablefields.However,noticethereisa“MasterExpand”buttonlocatedinthemaincolumndescription.
TheMasterExpandbuttonsimplyexpandsallfieldsinitscategory.Forexample,ifIweretochoosemultipleOrgsinmyselectioncriteria,Imightgetresultslikethese:
IfIusethesingleexpandbutton,IcanexpandtheindividualOrgs.
However,ifIusethemasterexpandbutton,itexpandseverythinginthatcategory.
Ifatanypointyouwishtosavetheresultsofyourreport,youcandosobyrightclickinganywhereinthereportresultsandselecting“ExporttoExcel”.ThiswillimporttheexactlookofthereportintoExcelasitisonyourscreen.Belowisanexample:
