Explain THR’s Middle School expectations.
Discuss the new online application and HISD’s Magnet Opportunities.
Purpose
It’s the rules!
2013-2014 Federal and State Guidelines (XXIV-5) says that all fifth graders in HISD must re-qualify to receive GT services for Middle / High School.
Why Re-qualify?
The Matrix
The Matrix could change!

The Matrix could change!
Reminder:
You will receive NNAT2 scores as soon as we
receive them (end of January / beginning of February).
HISD’s Parent notification date is: Friday, March 28, 2014.
When Will I Know?
What if my child does not re-qualify?
Examines the 5th Grade Stanford Scores
Examines the 5th Grade Final Report Card
Highest scores will be used – mix and match
Matrix Review
What It Looks Like:
If the new scores meets the number set by
the HISD School Board, the Matrix Review will re-qualify your student.
If you have completed a “Hold Space” Application, a space has been held for you at THR.
What Then? – Part I
If the new scores does not meet the number
set by HISD’s School Board, your child will remain not qualified.
Your space at THR will be released to someone in on THR’s waitlist.
What Then? – Part II
We receive the May Stanford scores in July.
Advanced Academics meets in early August for a Matrix Review meeting.
When Will I Know?
My Advice?
Whether or not you believe your child will re-qualify, check out your child’s options anyway!
December 20, 2013
We will need a “Hold-Space” Application and proof of HISD residency.
Remember the Deadline:
Of Course …
we would very much like your child to be here, at T. H. Rogers!
