Vancouver,14December2011—TheBritishColumbiaLawInstitute isembarkingonatwo‐yearprojecttoconsiderreformstojudge‐maderulesgoverningwhenapersonisde‐terminedtohavethementalcapacitytocarryoutatransactionorenterintoarelationship.“Boththeagingofsocietyandadvancesinneurosciencehavemadeare‐examinationofthecommon‐law tests of capacity imperative,” said committee chair Andrew MacKay. “I’mlookingforwardtoworkingwiththeBCLIandaprojectcommitteemadeupofsomeoftheleadinglightsinthefieldtostudyhowthelawcanbettersuittheneedsofcontemporaryBritishColumbians.”Themembersoftheprojectcommitteeare:AndrewMacKay—Chair AlexanderHolburnBeaudin&LangLLP
