In the midst of darkness we wait for you, O God. You alone are our light and our hope. “When you accomplished wonders beyond all our expectations; when you came down, mountains quaked before you. From ancient times, no one has heard, no ear has perceived, no eye has seen any god but you who acts on behalf of those who wait for him!” Isaiah 64:3-4 This month we remember that Advent is a season of waiting, and Isaiah is inviting us to wait for God. We wait for God when things are going smoothly and we wait when things are falling apart. We wait for God in joy and we wait for God in sadness. We wait for God because God always acts. God always shows up. God always comes down to join us. God is a God of Love who acts on behalf of those who know pain and suffer-ing, heartbreak and hopelessness. God’s Love is so great that God came down to this world. God came to us in Jesus who took on human flesh, in the form of a ba-by, to join us in our pain and suffering, heartbreak and hopelessness. Prayer: O God of Hope, help us to wait for you today in the easy and joyful moments and the hard and painful moments. Thank you for always showing up and for sending Jesus to join us. Thank you for loving us. Amen.

Presbyterian Women will be studying Chapter 13, “Keep Climbing,” from Love God Like You’ve Never Been Hurt, by Jenetezen Franklin on Monday, December 14th in Room 18 at 10:00 AM.
Presbyterian women thank Emily Megna Myers for her inspiring sermon as our Thank Offering Speaker on November 22, 2020. She talked about how Young Life has brought many young people across the United States to Christ Jesus and has given them a se-cure vision as to being in the life of Christianity. Thank you, Emily, for the wonderful vid-eo you presented with many witnesses as to how Young Life has impacted them during their lifetime. Praise be to God!! The Thank Offering money received during the month of November will be sent to Young Life.
SPRIITUAL LIFE NEWS:
Let us consider how we may spur one another on towards love and good deeds.” He-brews 10:24
The Prayer Group invite members at home to pray with us each Wednesday at noon. Prayer is something we can do together no matter where we are. We can serve God by praying for others and their needs, and our own needs. God enjoys hearing from us and will answer us and give us hope and peace as we unite with Praise and Prayer in our homes with Him. Thank you for your prayers and May God Bless all of us at Calvary Presbyterian Church.

THE HOLLY AND THE IVY
(18th Century English Carol)
The holly and the ivy,
When thy are both full grown,
Of all the tress that are in woods,
The holly bears the crown.
Refrain:
The rising of the sun,
And the running of the deer,
The playing of the merry organ,
Sweet singing in the choir.
The holly bears a berry,
As red as any blood,
And Mary bore sweet Jesus Christ,
To do poor sinners good.
Refrain
