Bulletin Issue No.10 Term 3, 07.08.2020
students arrive at school by 8.50am ready for
class at 9.00am.This will enable students to
make a positive start to learning each day.
Should your student need to sign out
during school hours, a note is required to be
handed into the Student Services Counter with
a date, time, signature and valid reason for
being signed out. We cannot sign students out
unless the note has a reason on it. Sport is
compulsory for Years 7-10 and a valid reason
is required to sign out on a Wednesday
afternoon.
By now all students should have settled back
into the routine of school and be focused on
trying to achieve excellent results for their
yearly reports. Year 12 will commence their
Trial HSC Exams on Monday August 10 and
Year 11 will have their Preliminary yearly
exams in weeks 9 and 10. These students
should be developing their study plans to
ensure they are well prepared for their exams.
Year Assemblies were held this week to give
out Academic Awards to students from Year 7
through to Year 11. A big congratulations to all
students who received awards for Semester 1.
Congratulations should also go to all the
students who embraced the new ‘normal’ at
Casino High School with regards to mobile
phones and the Yondr pouches. Already, we
have seen a significant drop in negative
incidents being recorded by teachers and an
increase in engagement by students within
classrooms.

Rodeo Mayhem
The sound of cheering and screaming filled my
ears as the barrel racer
and her trusty stead ran out the gate
and around the first barrel.
As I turned, in the corner of my eye I saw the
colours of the fireworks fill the sky.
As I look around I can see the crowd going wild as
the commentator reads out the final results.
I was at the Quirindi Rodeo with all my friends.
We couldn't stop talking about how we wish that
could be us riding around those barrels,
or pulling the rope tight as it goes around the
calve's neck.
My only fear is that I wont be good enough!

The Party!
The sound of high pitched screaming fills my red,
throbbing ears.
I can see huge green slobbering monsters coming
towards me and huge yellow teeth ready to
bite me.
I feel disgusted and worried.
The taste of salty saliva hits me like a wave.
It hits me at the back of my throat.
I am touching the yellow teeth, grubby hands or
are they touching me?
The feeling makes me feel like I'm half eaten.
The smell of salt makes my nose cringe.
I am being eaten!
Oh my poor cake friends and me.
I'm just a piece of cake!

Visiting Guest Speakers
Last week Mikey Day from Blackcomb Barbershop
and Luke Simpson from Bundjalung Fitness joined
with our very own Harold ‘Bucky’ Torrens, who
works at our school, to speak to students from
Year 11 and 12 about culture, respect and directed
the TAP classes through some fitness routines.
After a BBQ lunch Mikey, Luke and Bucky spoke
to us about their own personal lives and the
importance of communicating respectfully as well
as the importance of being a positive role model to
others. Everyone enjoyed themselves and learnt
something and we all appreciated them coming in
and giving up their time to talk to us.
