Limited liability Company scientific and production enterprise “BURINTEKH” founded in 1999 and over the period of more than 10 years continues to retain leader position in the field of manufacturing high quality tools for drilling and well workover and is the major Russian developer and manufacturer of drilling tools. The total investment amount to production development from 2007 to 2012 is more than 200 million rubles. Our range of new products increases by 30-40% per annum.

Our research includes the study of processes modeling of rock destruction elements interaction with rocks. This research has been conducted on different test-benches, by means of finite element analysis in corresponding integrated programming environment.
Mathematical group of Drilling Tool Design Center conducts computational modeling of bit hydraulic system, thermodynamic processes of drilling tools manufacturing which are based on strength estimations.
The important aspect of our scientific research is studying bottomhole assembly dynamics.
We concentrate on the quality of diamond cutters utilizing bench testing and our testing of cutters is conducted in real drilling conditions due to original test method.

Besides the main production currently “BURINTEKH”, Ltd performs tools restoration. Rock destruction, milling and expandable tools can be restored. Such components as cutting structure, flushing holes, body reinforcing parts and thread connections can be restored. Experienced specialists provide output of restored production about 2000 pieces per year.
Large volume of scientific and research and experimental designing preceded the development of production of matrix PDC and impregnated bits by powder metallurgical techniques. This research allowed for the development of initial binders for impregnated tools manufacturing.
Our research base is laboratories studying drilling muds and cement slurries. We create and implement new perspective developments in the realm of process liquids, drilling muds and cement slurries through our research.
Since 2002, “BURINTEKH”, Ltd has Integrated Management System (IMS) according to regulatory documents GOST R ISO 9001-2008 (ISO 9001:2008), GOST R ISO 14001-2007 (ISO 14001:2004), GOST R 12.0.230-2007 (OHSAS 18001:2007). IMS includes: Quality Management System (QMS), Environmental Management System (EMS) and Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS).

Due to maximum diameter of cutters and their aggressive arrangement drilling is carried out at high ROP.
Specially designed bit profile provides uniform wear and the most comprehensive tool run.

Rock Destruction Drilling Tools
This bit series is designed for drilling soft interbedded with medium formations of II-V category of hardness.
Analysis of multiple bit runs allowed designers to develop a bit with optimal quantity of cutters on minimum quantity of blades. Aggressive cutting structure provides maximum ROP.
Due to specially developed bit cleaning method (the effectiveness of which has been repeatedly proven in practice) enhanced hydraulics coping with large volume of drilled cuttings was created for applications where balling is present.
In spite of low blade quantity designers preserved steerability without speed loss which is paramount while directional drilling.
All mentioned features were proven in field runs, and have become market leading bits in their areas.

Our impregnated rock destruction tools are capable of drilling formations up to XI category of hardness and XII category of abrasiveness.Bits have composite layers made up of specially selected mixtures of diamond powder of different sizes and alloy. Mixture composition is defined individually depending on drilling conditions.
This type of tool is effective in drilling with high-speed hydraulic motors and turbines. High rotational speed allows maximum rock destruction. Specially designed bit profile allows use of large volume of diamond material. This feature increases durability of gauge and front parts and protects gauge in abrasive formations.
PURPOSEBit is designed for drilling at high ROP in hard and strong formations of VII-XI categories of
hardness and up to XII category of abrasiveness.

Appearance of Rotary Steerable Systems (RSS) allowed changing traditional technology and increase techno-economic performance of well drilling.
One of the components of successfully carrying out drilling operations with use of RSS is a competent approach to selection of drilling tools capable to realize all the potential of this system. Special attention should be given in accounting for two main types of RSS according to method of bit displacement control relative to well axis:1. “Push the bit” – radial displacement of whole assembly or its major part with respect to well axis;2. “Point the bit” – positioning of bit is achieved by means of tilting drive shaft with respect to BHA.
Two different RSS types require widely different bit designs.
Lateral and axial loads are accounted for in the cutting structure’s gauge length and its aggressiveness. Cutting structure durability must correspond to RSS requirements.
BURINTEKH produces bits for both types of RSS.
Bit performance data and drilling companies’ responses allow us to proudly state that our bits are competitive with world manufacturers’ bits and surpass them in some rates.
As an achievement should be noted matrix bit with long gage part for RSS in complicated conditions in Venezuela fields. There was successfully drilled well with high ROP rates. Bit was in perfect condition after drilling.

In 2010 roller cone bit manufacturing facility was acquired in USA having more than 37 year experience of creating high quality rock destruction tools, smoothly running and permanently upgradable manufacturing technologies, which produce API/ISO certified production for internal and external (including Russian) markets.
In 2012 roller cone bit manufacturing was organized in Ufa city. Big work was done, up-to-date equipment was purchased, specialists with wide experience in roller cone bit manufacturing were staffed who are regularly sent to USA for training and qualification upgrade. American professionals permanently present at manufacturing, control the quality of operations at each production phase. We have a modernized researching laboratory and test-bench, which help to control and improve quality of production.

Universal bits “Z” series
“Z” series includes wide range of bits for working in any mining and geological conditions.All bits of this series are equipped with options of reinforcing shirttail and back taper which allows using it in conditions of directional drilling.
Bearings of bits are equipped with o-ring seals made from the best modern materials, bushings and washers of maximum sizes which allow applying high axial weights on bit and receive maximum rates of penetration in drilling hard rocks.
The best stability results are achieved by these bits in low inclination intensity (up to 30 degrees) and low values of bend settings (up to 1,25 degree).
Bits of this series are admitted to use with high WOB (more than 15.5 klbs per 3
5/16 in.).
Bits of “ZW” series are purposed for construction deviated wells and drilling with high build-up rate.
The main feature of these bits is design of sealing unit consisting of two big rectangular section seal rings. In combination with strict tolerance system in manufacturing process and patented pressure compensated system this design gives ability to considerably increase bit bearing stability.
This series also includes all range of bits for any mining and geological conditions.

Bits are produced as with carbide so with milled cutting structure.
The main feature of these bits is the six-point stabilization system allowing facilitating its performance in horizontal conditions and prevent eccentric rotation destructively affecting bit bearings.
This series well-proved itself in field tests and showed bearing stability over the 50 hours of drilling on the bottom without bearing seal failure.
To protect cutting structure from erosive wear the option of carbide flame spraying is accessible.
Permanent works for improvement receipts and structure of sealing material. All our bits are equipped with new reinforced sealing material of increased stability.
Bushings and washers made from extra strong alloy covered with silver decrease friction coefficient and increase bearing operating life.
Labyrinth gland with special bent path prevents abrasive penetration to bearing units increasing operating life of bearing unit.

RR type underreamers are designed for enlarging any interval of wellbore (for liners, profile shutter, repair and insulation work intervals) in soft and medium hard formations.
RR H type underreamers are designed for reaming while drilling as a part of BHA comprising pilot drill bit or previously drilled interval.
RR Sp type underreamers are designed for carrying out special operations in openhole intended to form a cavity within a wellbore for further intentional sidetracking from original hole.
Expansion of blades, equiped with high quality PDC cutters, into operating position is provided by the effect of differential fluid pressure between flowbore and wellbore annulus.
Delivery set of all types of underreamers includes back pressure valve which prevents tool from sludging during round-trip operations and interchangeable blades easily replaceable in rig conditions, significantly reducing repair and maintenance costs.

Technical specifications
RL type blade reamers are designed for drilling wells with pilot bit or enlarging previously drilled intervals. Service life of reamers is equal to service life of PDC bits in same conditions, herewith enlarging is carried out at high ROP. Reamers blades, equipped with PDC cutting structure, have backreaming cutters and reinforced gauge protection.
Delivery set of reamers includes interchangeable blades easily replaceable in rig conditions, significantly reducing repair and maintenance costs.
For providing effective cuttings removal reamers are equipped with changeable wear resistant nozzles.
For enlarging previously drilled intervals reamer can be completed with extending sub and PZU (special tool preventing from accidental sidetracking) equipped with jet nozzles.

Core barrels are designed for coring with downhole hydraulic motor or rotor in formations of I-III category of recovery difficulty using core heads equipped with PDC cutters, thermally stable polycrystalline (TSP), impregnated diamonds or its combination.
High quality bare pipes of domestic and foreign manufacturers are used in producing core barrels. All components pass strict quality control. Core barrel design is multi-purpose and allows using one barrel for coring isolated and non-isolated core due to using fiberglass core tubes and insulating fluid.

Core barrel includes all auxiliary tools and spare parts necessary for make up and lay down operations at rig site.
In accordance with the customer requirements, core barrels can include:
• Crossover sub with changeable nozzles that limits flow rate through barrel and core head during coring with hydraulic motor, operation of which requires high flow rates;
• Spiral centralizers, diameter of which is selected depending on concrete drilling conditions;
• Insulating fluid “IZOKOR” produced by “BURINTEKH”, Ltd. with high rheological properties, adhesion, lubricating capacity, which allows preventing filtrate penetration into core material.
• Ball throw unit for provision central washover and washout sludge from inner core tube during operations with mud motor;
• Core blocking register informing that formation blocked in core tube and core catchers unit.
Distinctive design features: • Increased body diameter and reinforced threads increase service life and provide
continuous trouble-free operation of core barrel;
• Core tube tapered thread considerably speeds up make up and lay down operations;
• Inner core tube suspension design allows making fast clearance adjustment between core head and inner-tube shoe and, if necessary, change standard heavy series thrust bearing within 10-15 minutes at rig site;
• Collet core-cutters have necessary elastic characteristics due to special heat treatment technology and equipped with high roughness cover of tungsten carbide throughout inside diameter, which provide reliable core catching during brake-off and pulling-out operations;
• The variety of toggle-type core catchers allows selecting overlapped core tube cross-section area depending on type of formation for reliable core keeping during pulling out operation;
• Spiral centralizers decrease vibrations and fluctuations and allow increasing of core recovery percentage in fissured, cavernous and broken formations.

Expandable mill FKR is designed for continuous casing section milling throughout the diameter in any interval of wellbore.
Expansion of blades, reinforced with high quality composite material, into operating position is provided by the effect of differential fluid pressure between flowbore and wellbore annulus.
FKR delivery set includes back valve, which prevents tool from sludging during round-trip operations and changeable nozzles easily replaceable in rig conditions.
String mills with index “2” for example “FKR-146-2” equipped with emergency blades return system in run-in position independent from level of sludging or reamer wedging up.

Concave junk mill FZV2 is modification of FZ2 with concave working surface that allows centralizing unfixed milling objects relative to mill.

Taper string mills are designed for reaming elliptical pipes (restoring internal diameter), milling out a collapsed section of pipes, removing an internal surface roughness and cleaning a casing window.
Main feature of this tool is a tapered working surface reinforced with granulated hard alloy. Taper string mill FKK2 has cone angle of 10° and taper reamer mill RK2 – 5°.

Reamer stabilizer KRp-2ST is designed for calibrating and reaming well sections represented by medium, hard and abrasive formations. Reamer stabilizers allow reaming horizontal and high dogleg severity wells preventing accidental sidetracking and sizing wellbore to nominal diameter.
Reamer stabilizers are produced with two tapered surfaces. Tapered surfaces, reinforced with tungsten carbide inserts with cutting edge, comprise reaming part of a tool. Letter “p” on nomenclature designates “box-pin” type body, letter “S” – spiral blades, “L” – left-hand thread (designated with an “LH” at the end of the thread designation), number at the end of code – quantity of blades.

Modernized pipe puncher PTM is designed for punching 10/32…1 in holes in tubing and casing from 2 3/8 to 6 5/8 in of domestic and foreign manufacturers to make a communication between the interior cavity and the exterior annular space. This hole provides circulation restoring, prevents pulling pipes with fluid out of wellbore, and refilling into cement sheath and decreases environmental pollution while well workover operations.
Punchers are produced of several series: ordinary – K, for application in gas medium – G, for application at depth 9800-19700 ft – VD.
Punchers are run in a hole on wire, cable, flush-joint pipes or by throwing off.
Potential energy of a fluid column and pumping unit pressure are used to actuate a puncher.

Our hydraulic and mechanical jars are designed for releasing a stuck downhole tool by up-and-down impacts with static axial load (tension) and torque. Jars are included in drilling assemblies for sidetracking. We produce right and left hand fishing and drilling jars.
Currently we mastered manufacture of brand new torsional jars of right and left performance purposed for releasing stuck tools by torsional impacts directed upwards.
Design of axial jar is own “BURINTEKH”, Ltd. development protected by Russian and foreign patents.
Main advantages are:

Why is stuck tool released by only up-and-down impacts along well axis? In fact, life experience suggests that for pulling, for example, driven nail out it is better not only pull it, but pull with simultaneous turn. Obviously, it is easier to free stuck downhole tool if not only axial impact loads but also shock torsion torque are applied. To solve this challenge, we developed torsional jars “SHOCK TURN”, which can affect stuck tool by clockwise and counterclockwise and up-and-down impacts in different combinations.
Main advantages are:• High power capacity. Torsional jar impact strength 5…6 times bigger than ordinary jar;• Singular case thread (between body and bottom sub);• Compactness which allows transport it on pickup and deliver it to hard-to-reach areas on helicopter without external suspension;• Absence of extreme loads to hydraulic cylinder appearing during jar performance;• Ability of quick repair by changing hydraulic cylinder;• Extended functional capabilities.
Impact assembly
Impact assembly is two-section jar made as separate sections: top hydraulic jar (top section) and bottom mechanical jar (bottom section). There are produced the following assemblies: assembly jar yAGB-114 and jar yAMB-114H; jar yAGB-124 and jar yAMB-124H; jar yAGB-172P (or yAGB-172BD) and jar yAMB-172H.
Advantages:• Ability of use jars as in assembly so as separately;• Transportation is simplified because of compactness;• Ability of separation jars lengthwise in assembly (installing pipes of necessary length between jars).

Stabilizers of K and C series have following design features:KP (CP) – stabilizer with straight blades;KS (CS) - stabilizer with spiral blades;KLS (CLS) - stabilizer with spiral blades directed opposite to direction of rotation.

Bit protector PZ is designed for damping of torsional and axial vibrations, single torsional and axial impacts acting on PDC bit while drilling, and for providing optimal uniform loading of rock destruction tool.
