PARISH INFORMATION Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe TRUE STEWARDSHIP The gospel message proclaimed throughout the New Testament invites us to live in harmony with the world. This is a challenge to care for the world and be stewards of all that God has given us. Like generations before us, we are entrusted with the care of the earth so that generations to follow may enjoy the same gifts. Sometimes, however, we are absorbed into the ways of the world. When we are of the world, we rely heavily on the power of wealth, beauty, fame, and accumulation of material possessions. We want earthly possessions and carelessly turn our hearts from the responsibilities of stewardship and conservation. The readings today challenge us to walk away from the world so that we might inherit our share of God’s kingdom. How we live our lives directly reflects our love for God. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.
TODAY’S READINGS First Reading - One like a Son of man
received dominion, glory, and kingship (Daniel 7:13-14).
Psalm - The Lord is king; he is robed in majesty (Psalm 93).
Second Reading - Jesus Christ is the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead (Revelation 1:5-8).
Gospel - For this I came into the world, to testify to the truth (John 18:33b-37).

Salmo - Señor, tu eres nuestro rey (Salmo 93 [92]).

Stop Assisted Suicide in CA before it’s too late! Earlier this year, through a Special Session, the CA legislature passed assisted suicide, allowing doctors to prescribe overdose medica on to terminally ill pa ents. Join a coali on of physicians, nurses, disability-rights organiza ons, and people of all faiths to stand for the lives of our elderly and dying and oppose assisted suicide! On November 22, Christ the King Sunday, pe ons will be available for signature outside of Masses. Signers must be registered to vote and can only sign once.
Why Oppose Assisted Suicide? • Sends the Wrong Message: Legalizing suicide for the terminally ill,
while discouraging it for the rest of the popula on, teaches that the lives of the ill and disabled do not ma er to our society.
• Will Worsen Pa ent Care: Pa ents in other states, like Barbara Wagner in Oregon, are being denied treatment prescribed by their doctors, and instead offered drugs for assisted suicide.
• Will Increase Non-Terminal Suicide Rates: Suicides skyrocket when assisted suicide is legalized. Oregon's suicide rate for non-terminal people increased 49% a er assisted suicide became legal.

Did You Know? When secrets become dangerous There is no be er me of year to review the important family rules that help to keep all children safe. It takes just a few moments to review with your children what to do in an emergency, who the special and safe adults in their life are, and the importance of not keeping secrets. Some secrets, like a gi for a special occasion, can be fun and safe to keep. Secrets that hurt others, involve any kind of unsafe or inappropriate touching or anything that bothers a child – are secrets that are NOT safe to keep. Help your child understand the difference. For a copy of the VIRTUS® ar cle “Back to School: Secrets,” email: [email protected].
