On Deck
The Yellow Jackets close out the week with an American Mideast Conference doubleheader at Urbana tomorrow afternoon at 1 pm. A busy week lies ahead for CU with contests scheduled next Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The Thursday, Apr. 17 game is the Annual CU Baseball Classic at Fifth/Third Field.

The Cedarville University baseball team hosts the Urbana University Blue Knights in an American Mideast Conference doubleheader today at Yellow Jacket Field. Cedarville enters today's action with a 9-21 overall record including 3-11 in the AMC. The Yellow Jackets dropped a pair of league games at Ohio Dominican on Tuesday afternoon. Urbana is 15-11 on the season with a 6-3 AMC record. The Blue Knights posted non-conference wins over Ohio Christian and Miami-Middletown on Wednesday.
Seniors Matt Houchin and Paul Wilson continue to lead the Yellow Jacket offensive attack. Houchin tops the team in hitting with a .314 mark. He is second on the squad with 27 hits, 14 runs, 14 RBl's, 37 total bases and a .430 slugging pct. Houchin is tied for the team lead in RBl's with 15.
Wilson is second on the team with a .298 batting ____ __, average. He paces CU with 18 runs scored, 28 Matt Houchin
hits, nine doubles, and 42 total bases. The speedy shortstop has 18 stolen bases in 19 attempts.
Matt Totten, a senior outfielder, is third in hitting with a .273 average to go with five doubles and is tied with Houchin with 15 runs batted in.
Senior first sacker Pete Kraus and junior outfielder Brady Workman each have two home runs on the year. Kraus is third on the Yellow Jackets with 27 total bases and a .380 slugging mark.
Freshman infielder Phil Cruz has steadily Matt Totten
improved his batting average to a .257 mark. Sophomore righty Clint Price leads the pitching staff with a
4.26 ERA in 38 innings of work. He has a 4-3 mark with 28 K's and two complete games to his credit.
Michael Heck has been the leader of the Blue Knight offensive attack. The senior infielder has a .441 batting mark with eight doubles, 18 RBl's, 42 total bases and a .618 slugging percentage.
John Lindquist, another senior infielder, has produced a team-best 23 RBl's with seven doubles, a triple and two homeruns.
The pitching staff is led by junior righthander Michael Heck
Jaeson Hudnall with a 2.73 ERA and 35 strikeouts in 43 2/3 innings on the mound. He has posted a 5-1 record with one shutout. Rookie Mike Blanton is 3-2 with a 2.68 ERA in 34 innings of work.
Urbana swept all four games played against the Yellow Jackets last spring. UU won 1-0 and 4-2 in eight innings at Cedarville and then posted 16-6 and 4-3 verdicts over CU in Urbana.

ODU jumped out to a 5-0 lead after two innings of the opener. Five of their 12 hits were for extra bases while the Yellow Jackets were checked on four singles.
The Panthers, 20-8 overall and 9-1, scored six times in their first two at bats of the nightcap for a 6-0 lead. CU, 9-21 and 3-11, got its only runs of the day in the 3rd inning and had three hits total for the game.
