camp for EVERY camper. Come join us this summer and take in all that Johns Island has to offer!

Day Camp for rising K-4th graders

Middle School Camps for rising 5th-8th graders (*unless otherwise noted)
offers a variety of specialized camps giving campers the opportunity to participate in active,
engaging, and adventurous hands-on learning that fits their lifestyle and interests. Find a new skill, gain a new hobby, or
just have fun! Don’t miss out on this incredible opportunity !
Archery (*rising 5th-9th grades)
June 22-26, 9:00am-12:00pm, $120
Join Charleston Collegiate’s Physical Education teacher
and Certified Archery Instructor, Letitia Sowers, and
learn about the craft of Archery. We will size the bow
and arrow to each archer, so students may focus on
form and safety, learning basics that will reinforce safe
shooting and a general feel for archery, such as range
rules and safety gear. We will work on getting the best
use of our muscles and balance, combined with clear
mental preparation, to learn a series of
components/steps which build on one another.
Basketball
June 15-19 or July 27-31, 9:00am-12:00pm, $120
Whether you are new to the game of basketball or semi-
experienced, campers will learn and review
fundamentals then focus on individual skill
improvement. Campers will have significant time
devoted to specific skill stations, as well as progress
from one-on-one competition to in-game scenarios. This
five-day camp will prove both beneficial and fun for all
attending. So come out and join Stephen Brown,
Charleston Collegiate Alum and Assistant Basketball
Coach, for some fun and learning on the court!

Brick by Brick – Lego Robotics: Studio Hooked
June 8-12 or July 27-31, 2:00-5:00pm, $165
For the child that just can't get enough Robotics! This
exciting camp teaches you how to build and program
the LEGO® Mindstorm® NXT & EV3 robots, the coolest
robots available! In this week-long camp, we will take
robotics in a different direction...building creations that
must accomplish the task given. Can your team build a
robot that can sort objects by size/color, or sense an
intruder coming? This camp will offer both guided and
self-directed project time.
Creative Arts
Join artist Angela Walker and bring the joy and
creativity of the arts to your fingertips!
STICK WEAVING WONDERS: July 6 -10,
1:00 - 4:00pm, $120
An advanced fiber-spinning and stick-weaving class,
with the goal being finished woven projects.
NOT YOUR AVERAGE SOCK PUPPET: July 13-17,
1:00 - 4:00pm, $120
Create an animal or character from fabric! Activities
include pattern making, designing, and embellishments.
WOOD CARVING: July 20-24, 1:00 -4:00pm, $120
Using materials ranging from soap to bass wood,
participants will create a relief carving.
Cooking
July 6-10, 9:00am-12:00pm, $120
Cook like a CCS chef! Learn basic cooking skills and
kitchen safety, while creating some delicious culinary
creations.

Drama!

Join Michael Smallwood - actor, director, writer,
filmmaker, and teacher who is a 2-time winner of
regional playwriting awards from the Kennedy Center
American College Theater Festival. This summer, he
joins Charleston Collegiate to give students an
introduction to the theatrical arts. Students will work on
monologues, get character training through movement
and mask work, work on improvisational games, and
put together a small performance of scenes at the end
of the camp. Students may also get to spend a day
observing the professionals of PURE Theatre as they
rehearse their annual Summer Slam show.

Roller Coasters: Campers
will learn the physics
behind how roller coasters
work. They will also
design their own roller
coasters and build them
using only paper and tape.
Bridges: Campers will
learn about different
bridge structures. They
will design and build
bridges out of popsicle
sticks and glue capable of
holding various weights.

Campbell Bowers, on a kayaking
adventure on Penny Creek in the
beautiful Fenwick Preserve, just
minutes from the CCS campus. We
will be exploring marine wildlife
along with learning basic kayaking
skills. No prior knowledge of
kayaking is required.

No Sleeves Magic Camp (*rising 3rd-8th grades)
June 22-26, 1:30-4:30pm, $195
Warning! Your child may experience one of the best
summers of their lives here at No Sleeves Magic Camp!
Throughout the week, campers will take an adventure
into the world of magic, comedy, and illusion…..
In addition to learning new tricks, campers are exposed
to outdoor super soaker activities, visiting magicians,
secrets to illusion, improvisation, and an array of
inventive games that are created by the staff each
summer. The variety of techniques and entertainment
that we provide is the driving force in creating a fun
environment for building character, self-esteem, social
skills and problem-solving skills.
Wild Week of Wilderness!
June 1-5 (rising 5th-6th grades)

Pisgah National Forest, NC
5 Days/4 Nights, $525
Outdoor Education Director
Brooke Haynie invites rising 5th -
8th graders to join him for a wild
week in the Pisgah National Forest
in North Carolina! This adventure
takes the campers hiking on the
untamed trails of the Blue Ridge
Mountains, swimming/snorkeling in
the clear mountain waters, and
tubing down rivers while soaking in
the fresh air….
They will travel to the famous
Sliding Rock to glide over nature's
own slip-n-slide into a pool of
refreshing water. They will also
visit Looking Glass Falls, Triple Falls
and High Falls. Cooking over an
open flame and sleeping in tents
are another part of this Wild Week
in the Wilderness!

Kayaking June 22-26, 12:00-4:00pm, $150
Ever wanted to learn to kayak? Come join Charleston Collegiate’s Certified Kayak Instructor, Ms. Campbell Bowers, on a
kayaking adventure on Penny Creek in the beautiful Fenwick Preserve, just minutes from the CCS campus. We will be
exploring marine wildlife along with learning basic kayaking skills. No prior knowledge of kayaking is required.
Wild Week of Wilderness June 15-22, Nantahala, NC, 8 Days/7 Nights, $950
The Outdoor Education Program at CCS has teamed up with the Nantahala Outdoor Center to create the ultimate
summer adventure! The Nantahala Outdoor Center was recognized by National Geographic as “One of the Best
Outfitters on Earth.” We will be zip-lining through the canopy of North Carolina’s temperate rainforest, conquering the
whitewater rapids of the Nantahala River, climbing and belaying from some of North Carolina’s oldest trees, learning
wilderness survival skills, blasting through an adventure mud race, and hiking a portion of the Appalachian Trail. This trip
will be an experience that your child will never forget! Space is limited to 10 students and this trip will fill quickly.

All camp fees must be paid in full on or before the first day of that week’s session. FEES PAID ARE NON-REFUNDABLE AFTER JUNE 1,

expected to exhibit appropriate behavior, cooperation, and focused attention during camp. This form is not valid without a deposit

In case of serious accident or illness, the school may contact EMS if the situation warrants emergency treatment.
