A written survey consisting of 11
questions was administered to the
participants and requested demographic
data and information about the factorsinfluencing their choice of hospitals.
The survey was conducted in-person andtelephonic
Participation was voluntary.

Sample size The survey was conducted across 160 participants
out of which 90 were Male and 70 were Female
The participants belong to the Geriatric group i.e.above the age of 60.
Location of Participants
Participants of the survey belong to Karnataka,Tamil Nadu and Kerala on a majority while we alsohad a smaller percentage of participants from theother states of India.

The survey outcome indicates that thedependent variable is Choosing the Source
of Care Majority of the participants preferred to go to
their physician first and then go to a Wellknown hospital with all facilities for furthertreatment.

48% do not have health insurance coverage 40% are somewhat satisfied about the cost
From the survey observations above it is seenthat the Geriatric group though they feel costis a concern still go ahead in search of qualitytreatment and the best hospital
Majority of the participant populationpreferred going to the hospital nearer to therural area in which they live and in most cases
it remains to be the same hospital

Geriatric group should be given someconcession
Yes Medical expenses are very high but lifeand health is more important so we dontmind to even borrow money for treatment
Just because we have an Insurance orreimbursement these medical expensescannot be called reasonable
