Chocolate Trading Co opposite the village green has some exciting news to share. We are now also trading as Coal Valley Creamery Tasmania and are making all of our own ice cream, gelatos and sorbets in store daily. The demand has been incredible with positive feedback from both Tasmanians coming from
far and wide weekly and the Tourists from the mainland and overseas, some of the best if not the best gelato they have ever tasted, which makes us very happy. We hand make over 45 flavours and combinations that are rotated in our cabinet so there is always something exciting and a flavour that is sure to be a favourite. We make daily in small batches, it is not massed produced, this has enabled us to have total control of the ingredients for each of our recipes. We are extremely conscious of gluten free allergies and high sugar levels in other varieties on the market so we have adjusted recipes to overcome this. We are currently working on a Vegan Gelato and hope to have it ready for the summer season. Our sorbets are gluten and dairy free and the raspberry, blackberry and kiwi are packed full of real fruit. Our white choc blueberry gelato has handpicked blueberries from down the Huon, whilst our banana gelato has over 2kg of bananas in each batch. We have just entered the Tasmanian Fine Food awards with 7 entries. We are thrilled to have won 2 gold and 5 silver awards and Reserve Champion for our Pistachio gelato, we are hoping 2017 will also produce some great results for us.We are also making handmade waffle cones in store, including a gluten free option with our own secret recipe. Don’t forget our milkshakes and Coffee are made with Richmond milk. So if you haven’t tried our creations please call in and have a taste test, we look forward to seeing you instore. ADVERTISEMENT
Merry Christmas from the Committee, Volunteers and Staff of the Richmond Online Access Centre. It has been a year of changes for the Centre with a new co-ordinator and a new volunteer starting in the second half of the year. There has been a bit of uncertaintly as to the future of Community Based Online Access Centres due to the unknown availability of ongoing Government funding. New funding arrangements have just been introduced which means all Online Access Centres have had to apply for a “Digital Connections Grant” which provides funding at around the current levels until June 2019. Richmond Online Access Centre has applied for this Grant and we will know the outcome on 9 December 2016. The Committee, staff and volunteers believe we provide an essential service to the Richmond and Coal River Valley Community and we eagerly await the outcome of our Grant application which will give certainty of funding for the next 2.5 years. Lisa Evans, Richmond OAC Co-ordinator

The Richmond Tennis Club wishes to thank all the members, friends and the Garden Club who supported the Richmond Garden Trail on November 5th. It was a great financial success as well as lots of fun. Thank you all.
The Club will soon implement a new keying system for access to the courts. The gate will be secured by a chain plus two padlocks, one with a combination for financial members and one with keys for casual users. Financial members will be informed of the current combination by email. If you are not yet financial for 2016-17 please send in your return soon. Now that summer has arrived, long, light, warm evenings are a great incentive to dust off the tennis racquet and enjoy a social game of tennis with friends old and new. Members can use the courts at any time and bring their guests for only $5/ person/hr. Use of lights is an additional $5 per court per hour.
Social tennis is already organised on Tuesday mornings at 8.30-930 and on Saturday afternoon from 2pm The courts are for the whole community so don't hesitate to make a private booking. To obtain a key you just have to contact either Sue 6260 2210 or Glenn's 6260 2403 or Wadsleys 6260 2950. It still costs only $5/person/hr.
The tennis wall is available to anyone at anytime.
There is now a table tennis table, bats and balls in the clubhouse for members and their guests. It can be configured so that you can play alone, singles or doubles. Please do not move it by yourself as it is heavy and awkward.
