!Dear Friends,!As I have written before, I wish to start naming the patron saints within our parish more often, and invoking them. Here’ goes… St. John of the Cross, patron of the first historical parish within the current parish; St. Paul, patron of the second historical parish in the current parish, our church in Barton, and patron of the parish school; St. Cecilia, patron of the missionary church in Orleans before St. Theresa’s Church was built, undoubtedly an intercessor for our musicians; St. Therese, patron of the third historical parish in the current parish, still patron of our church in Orleans; St. John Vianney, patron of the Irasburg mission church. These are the historical patronages in the parish. Various other saints have provided inspiration, and no doubt heavenly prayers, for the parish life in past years, and recent years.!I have attempted to acknowledge both these patronages and the place of our parish in the Universal Church, in a small poster that also acknowledges all the people who participate directly in the ministry of the parish. (We pray that ALL Catholics are participating in the ministry of the Church, but there are times in life when that participation in the work in Christ is lived in one’s family and society without any “official” involvement in one’s parish beyond the five precepts of the Church.)!A copy of the parish poster for patronage and parish staff and volunteer will go in the Churches, and if permitted by every of interest, may go onto the parish website. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE pray for the good of the parish, for devout participation to increase among the “pseudo” practicing brothers and sisters of the church, and for workers in the vineyard to come our way and spread the Kingdom of God.!
God bless, in Christ, with Mary, Fr. Tim!
