CITB Overview
CITB was established in 1964 as one of 26 industrial Training Boards. The aim of CITB is to provide support to employers and encourage training, helping to build a safe, professional and fully qualified workforce.
The support and funding CITB provides helps employers to improve skills, increase their competitiveness and respond to challenges such as the low carbon agenda, reducing costs on site and recruiting the best talent for their sector.
CITB works with the industry and its clients to ensure the construction sector has the right skills, in the right place, at the right time

CITB Overview - continued
The levy and grant system is a collective solution that supports skills and training in the construction industry. The levy has been in existence since the 1960s and was set up to help address the training needs of the building industry’s mobile workforce.
CITB collect levy funds from employers who are required to pay the levy and then invest the money back into the industry. The funds are used to support employers who train their workforce and to help skills development in the construction industry.
