What happened on Friday and why was it so deadly?
Japan Earthquake Friday
March 11 2011
On Friday, March 11, 2011 at 2:46:23 p.m. local time, an 8.9-magnitude earthquake struck Japan, the
largest in recorded history. The resulting tsunami that swept the coast has resulted in countless deaths and widespread destruction, and aftershocks are still ongoing. The day after the earthquake, an explosion at Fukushima nuclear power plant caused both fear
and confusion about what may happen next….
Amazing stories of survival - man rescued after his house has been dragged 10 miles out to sea by the returning water!
Responses: The emergency services are trained to deal with the effects of earthquakes but were not prepared for anything on this scale
