Market resumed trading on 31st May 2020, after the nation wide public holiday of 66 days due to Corona Virus outbreak. However, the trade volume was sill very low as the market remains buyer less due to floor price. During the week, the benchmark index, DSEX closed at 3,953.4 points which is 1.37% down compared to the previous week’s index value of 4,008.3 points. During the week, The YTD 2020 return stood at negative 11.2% (499.5 points). Currently the market is trading at trailing market price earnings ratio (trailing PE) of 11.3x and Price to book value (P/BV) of 1.3x. The listed equities offer 11.7% ROE (trailing), 8.8% earnings yield, and 3.9% dividend yield. Free float share of the equity market stands at 40.0%. During the week, total turnover at DSE stood at BDT 6.9 billion (USD 82.5 million). The average daily turnover value (ADTV) decreased to BDT 1.4 billion which is 37.7% lower compared to the previous week’s ADTV. Sectors like Pharma, Telco, Bank and Fuel and power hold the position as top contributors in turnover chart Square Pharmaceuticals holds the weekly top turnover position and contributed 9.7% of total weekly turnover (closed at BDT 172.15 per share with no weekly return). All the major sectors, except Telco (+0.02%) posted negative return in this week. Sectors Suffering the most are, Bank (-3.5%), Cement (-2.2%), Ceramics Sector (-1.2%), Textile (-0.3%), Fuel & Power (-0.3%), Pharma (-0.2%), Engineering (-0.2%), IT (-0.1%), Financial Institutions (-0.05%) and Food & Allied (-0.3%). Stocks which were top of the gainer chart are Beximco Synthetics (+53.1%), Phoenix Finance 1st Mutual Fund (+12.9%) and Paramount Insurance (+9.6). Whereas, the weekly top losers were AB Bank (-16.3%), Bd. Welding Electrodes (-15.0%), Central Pharmaceuticals (-14.2%) and Mercantile Bank (-12.4%). Block trade contributed 36.1% to the total weekly turnover; where stocks like Renata (BDT 1,812.3 mn), Beacon Pharma (BDT 199.5 mn), Square Pharma (BDT 172.1 mn) and Beximco Pharma (BDT 102.3 mn) dominated the block trade board. 3,800
