How to Find Us
Travelling to the City CampusWe want to make your visit to the University of Bradford as sustainable as possible. We have many IT solutions in place to effectively communicate remotely. If your journey is essential then there are a number of ways to travel in a sustainable way. Visit www.bradford.ac.uk/smart-travel
Public Transport – by Train, Coach or BusWe are conveniently located in the centre of England and you can get here from Edinburgh, London or Bristol within 4 hours. There are good rail links to Bradford Forster Square and Bradford Interchange and good coach services to and from Bradford Interchange. From there you can take buses 576 Bradford-Halifax which leave at regular intervals and pass the City Campus, taking 5 minutes. To check current bus timetables please see www.wymetro.com
CyclingWe have showers and a secure cycle store for your use and convenience. To access these facilities you will need to visit the main reception in the Richmond Building on arrival - see www.bradford.ac.uk/smart-travel/cycling. You can plan your route by visiting www.cyclestreets.net/
WalkingIt only takes around 15 minutes to walk from the city centre, though it is partly uphill! From Bradford Interchange walk down the hill towards City Hall, then turn left past City Hall. From Forster Square station, walk past the “Fibres” sculpture onto Cheapside, then along Market Street towards City Hall. Walk through Centenary Square and City Park and continue towards the Alhambra Theatre. Turn right up Great Horton Road just before the Alhambra, and the University’s City Campus is about 300 metres up this hill just beyond the College.
By CarBradford is connected to the national motorway network via the M62 and M606. If you are travelling from the south, east or west of Bradford, you will probably find it most convenient to use the M62 and M606. If you are arriving from the north-west you will probably use the A629/A650 via Skipton and Keighley. From the north-east it is most convenient to use the A1 or A19, and reach Bradford via the A59 and then the A658 south of Harrogate.
Many road signs on the major routes into the city have the route to the University indicated by a mortarboard symbol.
By AirThere are direct regular air services into Leeds Bradford Airport (7 miles/11 km from the University’s City Campus) from various cities around the UK, Ireland and Europe. From the Airport a half-hourly bus service operates into Bradford, or alternatively taxis are usually available.
Many internal and international flights can be also be made into Manchester Airport which is about 50 miles/80 km south-west of Bradford.
Travelling to our Emm Lane Campus siteA daytime bus service (term-time only) links the City Campus to the Emm Lane Campus. For a map and directions to our Emm Lane Campus, please visit: www.bradford.ac.uk/maps
