ON February 15, Parrikar was rushedto Lilavati Hospital after reportedlysuffering from food poisoning whenhe started vomiting, and had anupset stomach.

Later there were reports that hehas been suffering from a pancreaticailment. However, the hospital hasrefuted them as “malicious and mis-leading” in an official statement is-sued on Sunday evening. “Wecategorically deny all such rumours.We reiterate that Hon. Chief Ministerof Goa is being treated and is re-sponding well to the treatment,”stated the letter issued by AjaykumarPandey, vice president of the hospi-tal. The statement was also tweetedby the official handle of the GoaChief Minister’s Office.

MPs tweetTarun Vijay, former MP, BJP, alsotweeted saying the reports werewrong. “There are some news beingspread by certain media about thehealth of Manohar Parrikar. I spoketo one of their OSDs just now — hesays all news regarding ‘cancer’ isfake and untrue,” he tweeted.”

Narendra Sawaikar, Member ofParliament, (Lok Sabha) South Goatweeted, “On advice of Drs. CMManohar Parrikar will be continuing

with his treatment for pancreas inMumbai. His treatment is in right di-rection and is responding to thesame. He needs sufficient time to re-cover. We pray for his speedy recov-ery.”

Earlier, Parrikar’s office in Goa, ina statement, had said that he won’t beavailable in the office for two dayssince he was admitted to LilavatiHospital for treatment.

PUNE: Around 2.30 pm on Sunday, ateam of the Enforcement Directorate(ED) raided diamond merchant NiravModi’s Gitanjali Gems store at aPune-based mall and seized all thejewellery, documents and laptops.

According to sources, the raid atthe store, which is located insideShopper’s Stop at West End mall inAundh, continued for over threehours.

Speaking to mid-day, a source said,“The ED officials started the raidaround 2.30 pm. They seized all thejewellery and documents from thestore.” “The raid continued for threehours and the jewellery was takenaway in a van,” the source added.
