Staff at Pencoed Comprehensive organise a whole a range of clubs and ac vi es during lunch me and a er school, providing pupils with wonderful oppor‐tuni es to develop their skills and talents as well as making new friends. At the back of this leaflet you’ll see which clubs are currently running but there will be addi ons and changes to this schedule throughout the school year. Pupils need to look out for informa on provided by departments and their form tutors as well as posters that are displayed around school. In addi on to the clubs, the Library is open to pupils every break and lunch me (apart from Wednesday lunch me which is ‘an invite’ Only Book Club), as well as before school from 08.30 and a er school un l 4pm. Other ac vi es pupils can take part in include the School Council, Get Girls Ac ve, and SNAG (School Nutri on Ac on Group). During the school year departments will also hold compe ons and host special visits to school that pupils can take part in, for example, Techniquest’s annual visit to the Maths department. Departments also arrange visits locally and abroad to loca ons such as France, Spain, Italy and even Iceland! Therefore, a whole range of ac vi es and opportuni es for pupils.
Here is more informa on about some of the clubs listed – The PE Department is extremely busy throughout the school day as well as a er school. A er school fixtures will vary from week to week so pupils need to ensure they make contact with the department.
The English Clubs open for all ages Monday , Wednesday & Friday are held in the Resource Area upstairs in Block 1. Monday: Word Searches in the shared Area. Tuesday: Torepy’s Top Up (Literacy Games) Wednesday: Deba ng Club (KS4) Room 18 Thursday: MAT Reading Group (KS4) Room 14 Friday: Film Club The Drama Department also host a variety of activities for all ages in their area in Block 5. “PAGE to STAGE”. Year 7,8 and 9 have the chance to act in four brand new plays written by Year 9 pupils and
directed by 6th formers. They will be performed in our playwriting festival in October. Lower School Drama Club meet every Tuesday after School and this year will be performing HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL in June. Dance Club meet every Tuesday Lunch me. A fun, energe c dancethon!

The ECO Team is made up of year 7 to 13 pupils who all have a passion for making our school and our home environment greener. Ac vi es include: poster making, compe‐
ons, visits to other schools, talks by outside speakers, tree plan ng, charity fund raising, energy/water monitoring, li er picks with Keep Wales Tidy and much much more! Friday Week 2—Lunch Time
