Code-Based Crypto Workshop28-30 September 2015

C.R.Rao Advanced Institute of Mathematics Statistics and Computer Science, Hyderabad, India

About Workshop• Public key cryptography is widely used to secure

transactions over the Internet. However, advancesin quantum computers threaten to undermine thesecurity assumptions upon which currently usedpublic key cryptographic algorithms are based.Hence, the need of the hour is to come up withcryptosystems that run on conventionalcomputers and are secure against the attacks byquantum computers, which are known aspost-quantum cryptosystems.

• Code-Based Cryptography is one of the bestPost-Quantum alternatives. Though code-basedcryptography is as old as public key cryptographyitself, not much has been achieved to bring it intopractice mainly due to its large key size and alsopartly due to relatively less attention it hasreceived than it demands.

• This workshop is aiming to introduce the subjectin a structured fashion for participants tounderstand the evolution, motivation, challengesand approaches taken so that they get theoverview of the fundamentals of code basedcrypto. At the same time, this congress should bea platform for exchange of ideas and discussionsof future directions in this field of research.
